LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police continue their efforts to combat drug abuse and the illegal distribution of narcotics. Following a public report submitted through the Dumas Presisi service, investigators from the Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) successfully arrested a man suspected of possessing methamphetamine, locally known as "sabu."
The arrest was carried out on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m. WIB in the Dusun Sumberjo Blok Songo area, Sisumut Village, Kota Pinang District, South Labuhanbatu Regency.
The disclosure of this case highlights that public participation remains an important factor in supporting police efforts to combat narcotics-related crimes. Information provided by citizens through official police channels plays a significant role in enabling law enforcement action and protecting communities, particularly the younger generation, from the harmful impacts of drug abuse.
Public Report Leads to Discovery of Suspected Drug Activity
The man arrested by officers was identified by the initials AP, also known as Andre, aged 31. Police suspect that AP was involved in the possession and control of methamphetamine after receiving information regarding alleged drug distribution activities in the area.
After receiving the report,
Satresnarkoba investigators from the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police conducted a series of investigations to verify the information. Following surveillance at the suspected location, officers carried out an operation and arrested the suspect.
During the on-site inspection, officers discovered several items allegedly linked to narcotics activities. The search was conducted both on the suspect's person and in areas suspected to have been used for storing the illegal substances.
The inspection uncovered a silver-colored container containing a transparent plastic bag suspected to hold methamphetamine, an empty plastic bag, a small plastic scoop, a black electronic scale, and a blue Redmi mobile phone.
The confiscated evidence included one transparent plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine with a gross weight of 1.45 grams, one empty plastic bag, one plastic scoop-shaped spoon, one black electronic scale, one blue Redmi mobile phone, and one silver-colored container.

Investigation Expanded to Uncover Possible Drug Network
Following AP's arrest, officers brought the suspect along with all seized evidence to the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Headquarters. Investigators from
Satresnarkoba then conducted further questioning and examination to identify possible additional individuals connected to the illegal drug distribution network.
The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police emphasized that efforts to eradicate narcotics crimes will continue to be strengthened through law enforcement actions and preventive measures. Police also urged residents not to hesitate in reporting any suspected drug-related activities.
The Chief of Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR, through Public Relations Head (Kasi Humas) AKP Sujono, stated that police remain committed to taking firm action against perpetrators involved in illegal narcotics distribution.
AKP Sujono explained that the success in uncovering this case could not be separated from the cooperation between the community and police through the Dumas Presisi service.
