JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - The Jelutung Sector Police have prevented a planned confrontation between two youth gangs in Jambi City. Officers secured several teenagers and seized two sharp weapons known as Egrek blades, which were allegedly prepared for use during the planned clash.
Jelutung Police Chief AKP M. Choiril Umam stated that his unit had secured two groups of teenagers who were suspected of planning a violent confrontation. The groups involved were GANKSTER KKS (Kita Kita Saja) and Poencak Stres Tugu Keris.
The planned clash was scheduled to take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at around 4:00 p.m. WIB in the Tugu Gajah Simpang Pulai area, Jambi City. However, police managed to prevent the incident after one of the group members was stopped by local residents and later handed over to authorities.
Police Foil Planned Clash Between Youth Groups
AKP M. Choiril Umam explained that the GANKSTER KKS (Kita Kita Saja) group, led by ES, had initially gathered in the Patimura Chinese Cemetery area, Kota Baru, Jambi City. The purpose of the gathering was to move together to the agreed location and initiate a confrontation with the Poencak Stres group.

Jelutung Police Chief AKP M. Choiril Umam.
At around 3:30 p.m., the GANKSTER KKS group moved toward Tugu Gajah Simpang Pulai to carry out the planned confrontation. However, upon arriving at the location, they did not find the opposing Poencak Stres group.
As a result, no physical clash occurred. The GANKSTER KKS group then left the area and returned toward their gathering point in the Pall 11 area.
While passing through the Tugu Keris area on Jalan Jenderal Basuki Rahmat, Pall Lima Subdistrict, Kota Baru District, Jambi City, one of the group members was detained by a local resident identified by the initials FN.

Residents Secure Sharp Weapons Carried by Teenagers
During the inspection of the teenager, residents found two
sharp weapons being carried by the youths. One of them was an Egrek blade made from modified Taso metal with a length of approximately one meter and equipped with a wooden handle.
Another weapon was also found, an iron Egrek blade with an orange iron handle measuring around one meter in length. The residents then handed over the teenager along with the evidence to the Jelutung Sector Police in Jambi City for further investigation.

Jelutung Police, Ipda Ondo E Siburian, said his team had secured several teenagers who were allegedly involved in the
planned confrontation between the youth gangs.
"We managed to secure the group of teenagers," said Ipda Ondo E Siburian.
The teenagers secured by police included AS/KAN, FN (16), ES (15), RRS (15), GAP (16), FHH (16), NASP (14), and SDP (15).
Police Seize Two Egrek Weapons and One Motorcycle
During the operation, police confiscated several items allegedly linked to the planned mass brawl. The evidence included an Egrek weapon made from modified Taso metal, approximately one meter long, with a wooden handle.
Officers also seized another iron Egrek weapon with an orange iron handle measuring around one meter in length. In addition, police confiscated a green Yamaha Mio X Gear motorcycle with chassis number MH3SEG710MJ018241 and engine number E32WE0018242.
After questioning was completed, the teenagers were not detained. Police invited the parents of each teenager and representatives from their schools to provide guidance, counseling, and preventive education to ensure similar incidents do not happen again.
"The teenagers were released after their parents were informed. Schools were given guidance so that such actions would not happen again. We urge the public to contact the nearest police station or emergency number 110 if they observe gang activities," Jelutung Police Chief AKP M. Choiril Umam concluded.

Jelutung Police continue to call on residents to actively contribute to maintaining security in their neighborhoods. The public is encouraged to immediately report any youth group activities that could threaten public safety or potentially lead to violence.
