Polsek Kampung Rakyat Arrests Suspected Egrek Thief After Three Months on the Run

ARREST OF SUSPECTED EGREK THIEF: Polsek Kampung Rakyat arrested MF alias Nanak, a suspected egrek theft perpetrator who had been on the run for three months in Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Selatan. Police also secured an egrek with a fiberglass pole as evidence.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The escape of MF alias Nanak (27), the suspected perpetrator in the theft of an egrek harvesting tool belonging to a resident of Dusun Telaga Suka, Desa Tanjung Medan, Kecamatan Kampung Rakyat, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Selatan, has ended. The Criminal Investigation Unit of Polsek Kampung Rakyat successfully arrested the suspect after months of searching.

MF had previously been placed on the police wanted list after being suspected of stealing agricultural equipment used for harvesting oil palm fruit belonging to a local resident. For more than three months, the suspect attempted to evade police investigation. However, through continuous efforts and in-depth investigation, officers managed to identify his whereabouts and carry out the arrest.

The arrest reflects the commitment of Polsek Kampung Rakyat in responding to public reports and ensuring that every criminal act is processed in accordance with applicable legal procedures.

Police Secure Suspect Without Resistance

Officers arrested MF alias Nanak on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at around 11.00 p.m. WIB. The Criminal Investigation Unit team of Polsek Kampung Rakyat, led by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit IPDA Apma Aldon Pulungan, S.H., M.H., successfully secured the suspect without resistance.

Following the arrest, MF was taken along with the evidence to the Polsek Kampung Rakyat Headquarters for further investigation and legal processing.

The Head of Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through the Head of Polsek Kampung Rakyat, AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis, S.H., on Sunday, August 2, 2026, stated that the successful arrest demonstrates the commitment of the Indonesian National Police in maintaining public security and providing legal certainty for the community.

"Every report from the public is handled professionally by us. Although this case occurred several months ago, our officers continued the investigation until the suspect was finally arrested. This proves that criminal offenders have no opportunity to escape the legal process," said AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis.

Chronology of the Egrek Theft Case

The theft occurred on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at around 7.30 a.m. WIB. At that time, witness Indra Syahputra was preparing to leave for oil palm harvesting activities. However, he was surprised after discovering that an egrek equipped with an approximately 12-meter-long fiberglass pole, which had previously been stored behind the house, was missing.

An egrek is a tool commonly used for harvesting oil palm fruit. After realizing that the equipment was no longer in its place, the victim, Andi Setiawan (45), a resident of Dusun Telaga Suka, reported the incident to Polsek Kampung Rakyat on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Based on the report, Polsek Kampung Rakyat immediately launched an investigation. Officers collected witness statements and gathered additional information related to the case.

The intensive investigation eventually led to the identification of MF alias Nanak as the alleged perpetrator. Police continued their efforts until the suspect's location was discovered and the arrest was carried out.

Police Secure Evidence From Theft Case

During the arrest, officers also confiscated an egrek equipped with an approximately 12-meter-long fiberglass pole, which is believed to have originated from the theft.

The evidence is currently secured by investigators and will be used for further legal proceedings. Police are continuing to question the suspect to complete the investigation file and determine whether other parties were involved in the case.

The theft caused the victim material losses estimated at around Rp1.5 million. Although the loss was financial in nature, police continue to handle the case as part of their commitment to serving and protecting the community.

The successful resolution of this case shows that Polsek Kampung Rakyat continues to pursue criminal suspects even when a case has been outstanding for several months. Police ensure that every public report is taken seriously and followed up until a resolution is achieved.

Polsek Kampung Rakyat Urges Public to Maintain Security

The Head of Polsek Kampung Rakyat, AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis, encouraged residents to continue cooperating with the police in maintaining a safe and orderly social environment.

He urged members of the public not to hesitate to report criminal acts or file complaints if they become victims of crime.

"Security is a shared responsibility. We appeal to the public to immediately report any criminal act they witness or experience so that every case can be handled quickly," said AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis.

Currently, MF alias Nanak remains in custody at the Polsek Kampung Rakyat Headquarters and is undergoing an investigation process in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Police are also continuing their investigation to uncover all facts related to the case.

With the arrest of the suspected perpetrator, Polsek Kampung Rakyat hopes to further strengthen public trust in police efforts to maintain security and combat all forms of crime within the jurisdiction of Polres Labuhanbatu Selatan. (IDNC)
