ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of the Aceh Tengah Police continues to strengthen efforts to maintain security, safety, order, and smooth traffic flow (Kamseltibcarlantas) through humanitarian patrol activities. The operation was carried out on Thursday night, July 23, 2026, focusing on several areas considered vulnerable to traffic violations and public order disturbances.
The humanitarian patrol was a preventive measure conducted by Satlantas Polres Aceh Tengah to prevent
illegal motorcycle racing activities and control vehicles using non-standard loud exhaust systems, commonly known as "Knalpot Brong." During the operation, officers prioritized a dialogue-based and educational approach rather than immediately imposing penalties through traffic fines.
The patrol was carried out from 8:45 p.m. until midnight Western Indonesian Time (WIB). Officers inspected several locations frequently used as public gathering areas and considered vulnerable to being misused for illegal racing activities. These locations included Jalan Lebe Kader, Jalan Sengeda, the Old Takengon Terminal, Inpres Market, the area in front of Lintang Gas Station, and roads in Mongal Village, Bebesen District.
A total of nine Satlantas Polres Aceh Tengah personnel took part in the activity. The officers monitored traffic conditions while also engaging in direct communication with residents at several monitoring points.
Through these discussions, officers conveyed the importance of obeying traffic regulations and encouraged the public to work together in maintaining safe and comfortable public spaces. Motorcycle riders were also advised not to use loud non-standard exhaust systems, as the excessive noise could disturb the surrounding community.
Satlantas Polres Aceh Tengah continues to conduct these patrols as a form of police presence within the community, particularly during periods when traffic violations are more likely to occur. The presence of officers in the field is expected to provide residents with a greater sense of security while carrying out their daily activities on the roads.
During the patrol, officers found two motorcycles equipped with loud non-standard exhaust systems. However, the owners were not issued traffic tickets. Instead, they received guidance and were instructed to replace the exhaust systems with original standard components at the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters.
This step is part of the police's public education efforts to help residents understand the impact of non-compliant vehicle modifications and prevent similar violations in the future.

Police Prioritize Education and Public Awareness
Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., through Traffic Unit Head AKP Rerit Oktafiandi, S.Tr.K., S.I.K., CPHR., stated that vehicle inspections were not solely aimed at taking action against violations but were primarily intended to increase public awareness of safe and orderly traffic practices.
"Through this humanitarian patrol, we want to strengthen public awareness that traffic safety is a shared responsibility. We urge all road users to comply with regulations, avoid illegal racing, and refrain from using loud exhaust systems that may disrupt public order," he said.
According to him, maintaining road safety requires active participation from all parties, including drivers, the community, and law enforcement officers. Therefore, Satlantas Polres Aceh Tengah will continue promoting a culture of traffic safety as part of everyday life.
The humanitarian approach applied during these patrols is also a police strategy to establish better communication with the community. Through this method, public understanding of traffic regulations is expected to improve without relying solely on repressive measures.

Throughout the patrol activity, the situation within the jurisdiction of Aceh Tengah Police remained safe, orderly, and stable. The presence of Satlantas officers at several locations received positive responses from residents, as it provided a sense of security while increasing awareness of traffic safety.
