SIGLI | INDATANEWS.COM - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Pidie Police has arrested a long-time fugitive wanted in connection with an alleged corruption case involving the Gampong Mancang Village Budget (Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Gampong/APBG) in Pidie Regency for the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years. The suspect, who had been on the police wanted list for seven years, was finally apprehended in Bener Meriah, where he had been hiding.

The arrest was carried out by the Satreskrim Polres Pidie operation team on Friday, July 16, 2026, at approximately 11:00 p.m. WIB. The suspect, Khaidir Bin M. Kasem, was captured in Sesongo Hamlet, Gampong Alur Gading, Pintu Rime Gayo District, Bener Meriah Regency, without offering any resistance.

The operation was led directly by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Pidie Police, Iptu Mirzan, S.H., M.Si., assisted by the Head of the Corruption Investigation Section III, Ipda Muhammad Naufal Asyrof, S.Tr.K., along with several investigators from the Satreskrim Polres Pidie who had conducted extensive intelligence work to locate the fugitive.

Khaidir has been named a suspect since 2019 in an alleged corruption case involving irregularities in the management of Gampong Mancang's APBG funds for the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years. Throughout the investigation, however, he repeatedly failed to comply with investigators' summonses and was eventually declared a wanted person.

Years of Investigation Lead to Arrest

Pidie Police Chief AKBP Jaka Mulyana, S.I.K., M.I.K., through Head of Criminal Investigation Iptu Mirzan, stated that investigators had followed all legal procedures before officially declaring the suspect a fugitive.

"During the investigation, the suspect was legally summoned several times. However, he never complied with those summonses and instead chose to flee, prompting investigators to designate him as a wanted person (DPO)," Iptu Mirzan said.

Throughout the years, investigators continued gathering intelligence and tracking the suspect's movements while monitoring several locations where he was believed to be hiding.

The investigation revealed that KHAIDIR fled to Malaysia, where he remained for approximately three years. After returning to Aceh, he frequently moved between several regencies in an effort to avoid arrest by law enforcement authorities.

Before his arrest, the suspect was reportedly working as a coffee farmer in Pintu Rime Gayo District, Bener Meriah Regency. Investigators believe the job was used as a cover to conceal his whereabouts while evading capture.

Arrest Carried Out Without Resistance

Following intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering, investigators obtained accurate information regarding the suspect's location. The operation team immediately moved in and successfully carried out the arrest.

Khaidir was taken into custody without resistance, bringing an end to his seven-year escape after remaining at large since being placed on the wanted list.

Following the arrest, investigators transported the suspect to the Pidie Police Headquarters, where further legal procedures and criminal investigations are now underway.

The alleged corruption case concerns irregularities in the management of Gampong Mancang's Village Budget (APBG) for the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years. Investigators are currently completing the case file before forwarding it to the next stage of legal proceedings.

FIRM COMMITMENT AGAINST CORRUOTION: The Criminal Investigation Unit of Pidie Police emphasized that the successful arrest of the long-time fugitive reflects the institution's unwavering commitment to combating corruption and demonstrates that there is no safe refuge for criminals seeking to evade justice. Pidie Police Reaffirm Commitment to Combating Corruption

The successful arrest of the suspect after years on the run demonstrates the strong commitment of the Pidie Police to pursuing corruption cases and ensuring accountability under the law.

Iptu Mirzan emphasized that law enforcement authorities would never cease pursuing individuals who attempt to evade the judicial process.

"This achievement reflects the firm commitment of the Pidie Police in combating corruption. It also sends a clear message that there is no safe haven for criminals seeking to escape justice, even if they remain fugitives for many years," he said.

He added that the resolution of this case sends a strong message that years spent in hiding do not eliminate criminal liability. Police will continue pursuing every suspect who attempts to evade legal responsibility until they are arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the applicable laws. (IDNC)
