JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM – Jambi Police Chief Inspector General of Police Krisno H. Siregar participated in a discussion on strengthening synergy in the implementation of the Criminal Code (Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Pidana/KUHP) and the Criminal Procedure Code (Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Acara Pidana/KUHAP) among law enforcement agencies in Jambi Province. The event was held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the Jambi High Court Building.
The strategic forum was attended by representatives from various law enforcement institutions to strengthen coordination, establish a shared understanding, and formulate joint measures in response to ongoing changes within the legal system. In addition to the
Jambi Police Chief, the event was attended by Chief Justice of the Jambi High Court Dr. Ifa Sudewi, Jambi Chief Prosecutor Sugeng Hariadi, Jambi District Attorney Dr. Abdi Reza Fachlewi Junus, High Court judges, ad hoc corruption court judges, senior officials from the Jambi Police, the Prosecutor's Office, and representatives of the Jambi High Court.
The discussion was opened with a welcoming speech by the Chief Justice of the Jambi High Court, who later served as moderator. The forum became a communication platform among law enforcement institutions to develop a shared perspective regarding the application of new regulations within the criminal justice system.

Strengthening Cooperation on New Legal Regulations
During the forum, participants discussed various important aspects related to amendments to the KUHP and KUHAP. The topics included challenges in implementing the new regulations, cooperation mechanisms between institutions, and strategies to ensure that law enforcement processes are carried out professionally, effectively, transparently, and based on strong principles of justice.
Law enforcement agencies also emphasized the importance of harmonizing interpretations of the new articles contained in the KUHP and KUHAP. A unified understanding was considered a key factor in preventing differences in legal application between institutions that could affect the criminal justice process.
Through the forum, all parties reaffirmed their commitment to improving cooperation and establishing a more integrated working system. The move is expected to provide legal certainty while strengthening public trust in law enforcement institutions across Jambi Province.
In addition to discussing national legal regulations, participants also addressed public security challenges, including the increasing activities of motorcycle gangs and illegal gold mining activities, known locally as Penambangan Emas Tanpa Izin (PETI).
Motorcycle Gangs, Illegal Mining, and Security Challenges in Focus
During discussions on motorcycle gangs, participants analyzed various challenges faced by authorities in maintaining public order. They agreed that coordinated cooperation among institutions is necessary to suppress activities that have the potential to disrupt public security and safety.
Regarding PETI, participants highlighted the environmental impacts caused by illegal mining activities, as well as the potential emergence of social conflicts. Law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders are seeking a more coordinated approach to ensure these issues can be addressed comprehensively.
The effectiveness of the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system in supporting traffic law enforcement was also discussed. Participants assessed that the system needs to be further strengthened to ensure more effective implementation.
Alongside efforts to optimize ETLE, discussions also covered the possibility of reintroducing the manual ticketing system in accordance with applicable regulations. The measure is expected to encourage greater public compliance with traffic rules and reduce violations on the roads.

Through this forum, a shared understanding in implementing KUHP and KUHAP is expected to be established, ensuring that every law enforcement process is carried out professionally, fairly, and with legal certainty, while also addressing various challenges in the field, including combating motorcycle gangs, PETI activities, and improving public compliance with traffic regulations," Commissioner Erlan Munaji said.
He explained that cooperation between law enforcement institutions serves as an important foundation for a legal system capable of meeting the needs of society. A unified approach among the police, prosecutors, and courts is expected to improve the quality of legal services and maintain security stability in Jambi Province.
The discussion forum also served as an important moment to strengthen institutional relations among law enforcement agencies. Through closer coordination, the implementation of KUHP and KUHAP is expected to be carried out consistently and contribute to the realization of modern, professional, and fair law enforcement.
