ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Samapta Unit of the Aceh Tengah Police continues to strengthen the capabilities and operational readiness of its personnel through regular Basic and Advanced Dalmas (Crowd Control) training. The exercise was held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, starting at 9:00 a.m. WIB in front of the guard post at the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters.
The training was led directly by the Head of the
Samapta Unit,
Iptu Misbah, with support from the Head of Operational Training, Ipda Rismansyah, and instructor Brigadir Khairu Hidayat. In addition to Samapta personnel, officers from local police precincts also participated in the exercise. The program aimed to enhance professionalism and operational preparedness in responding to potential public security and public order disturbances.
The training was conducted in stages, covering refresher sessions from the basic to the advanced levels. All participants completed every phase of the exercise to improve their technical skills while strengthening their physical and mental readiness for field operations.
Basic Skills and Dalmas Formations
The instructors began the program by reviewing fundamental crowd control techniques that serve as the foundation for Dalmas operations. The sessions included basic standing positions, alert stances, marching in place, and the proper handling of the Dalmas baton.
Participants also practiced a variety of standardized crowd control formations, including line formations and the spearhead formation, both designed to improve coordination, unit cohesion, and rapid response during potential public security incidents.
Each movement was repeated several times to ensure officers mastered the required techniques and could execute them accurately during real operations. Following every training session, instructors evaluated participants to ensure all procedures were carried out in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Tactical Drills to Improve Operational Capability
In addition to mastering basic techniques, officers underwent advanced tactical exercises, including coordinated forward movement and synchronized formation advancement. These maneuvers are considered essential components of crowd control operations and require strong coordination, discipline, and teamwork among all personnel.
The participants also received training in the tactical use of riot shields to protect themselves against thrown objects and pressure from large crowds. The exercise was designed to ensure officers can safeguard themselves while maintaining stable formations throughout an operation.
Training involving riot shields and Dalmas batons focused primarily on tactical self-protection techniques. The objective is to ensure officers remain safe while upholding the principles of professional, humane, and lawful crowd management during public demonstrations.
These competencies are regarded as essential in modern policing, particularly when handling demonstrations whose dynamics require proportionate, measured, and situation-based operational responses.
