Motorcycle Gangs Have Become a Serious Security Threat
In his address, Irjen Krisno emphasized that the motorcycle gang phenomenon could no longer be considered ordinary juvenile misconduct. According to him, actions carried out by these groups have developed into a serious threat to public security and social order.
Clashes between youth groups, physical assaults, damage to public facilities, drug abuse, possession of sharp weapons, and the spread of fear through social media are among various forms of violations indicating a shift toward criminal activities.
Irjen Krisno stated that combating motorcycle gangs requires broader measures and cannot rely solely on law enforcement. The government, security forces, families, educational institutions, community leaders, and other social groups must share responsibility in prevention efforts.
"The fight against motorcycle gangs cannot be carried out through law enforcement alone. We must work together through education, prevention, guidance, rehabilitation, and cooperation among all elements of society so that the younger generation does not become involved in criminal acts that harm themselves and others," said Irjen Krisno.
According to Irjen Krisno, law enforcement remains an important element to ensure legal certainty for offenders. However, it must be accompanied by educational programs, character development, youth empowerment, and stronger community involvement.
"Maintaining security and public order is our shared responsibility. Through strong cooperation between the government, law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, families, religious and community leaders, communities, and the media, we are confident that Jambi Province can become a safe, orderly, and motorcycle-gang-free region," he stated.
Cross-Sector Collaboration for Integrated Prevention
The coordination meeting also included a statement from the Jambi Provincial Prosecutor's Office, which highlighted that the characteristics of motorcycle gangs have changed. Their existence is no longer merely associated with youth misbehavior but has evolved into a form of street crime requiring serious attention.
The Jambi Prosecutor's Office emphasized the importance of consistent and proportional action against offenders. At the same time, legal protection must be considered when those involved are still minors.
Meanwhile, Korem 042/Garuda Putih Military Command highlighted the important role of parents in monitoring children's activities, especially their use of social media. The command also stressed the need to provide creative spaces for young people and establish cross-sector programs to prevent youth involvement in motorcycle gangs.
On the occasion, the Governor of Jambi appreciated
Polda Jambi's commitment to maintaining regional security. He encouraged all community groups to strengthen cooperation through preventive, educational, and humanitarian approaches.
In his view, collaboration between the government, security forces, families, educational institutions, and society is the key to protecting the younger generation from negative influences associated with motorcycle gangs.

The declaration represents a concrete step toward building collective commitment to creating a safe and orderly social environment. All participating institutions agreed to strengthen coordination, expand preventive measures, and take concrete actions against the threat of street crime.
Jambi Police Chief Irjen Pol. Krisno H. Siregar, through Head of Public Relations of
Polda Jambi Police Commissioner (Kombes Pol.) Erlan Munaji, stated that the coordination meeting served as a starting point for strengthening cooperation among all parties in addressing motorcycle gangs, which have developed into a social and criminal issue.
"As emphasized by the Jambi Police Chief, Polda Jambi will not provide space for perpetrators of street crimes that threaten public safety. Law enforcement will be carried out firmly, professionally, and fairly, while also being accompanied by guidance and protection efforts for the future of the younger generation through cooperation among all elements of society," said Kombes Erlan.
Through the cooperation that has been established,
Polda Jambi hopes that all parties can actively contribute to creating a safe and orderly environment while providing positive spaces for young people so they are not influenced by motorcycle gangs.
