JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM - M. Nasir Syamaun, S.IP., MPA., Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government, has been honored as "National Inspirational Figure 2026" by the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (SMSI). The award was presented on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Dewan Pers Hall in Central Jakarta, in a ceremony attended by national officials, media representatives, and regional government leaders.
The recognition highlights his sustained contribution to strengthening governance in Aceh, advancing bureaucratic reform, and building productive partnerships with the media sector.
Reform Drive Behind Aceh's Administrative GainsWorking under Governor Muzakir Manaf and Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, Nasir has been a key figure in accelerating bureaucratic transformation within the Aceh provincial administration. His leadership has contributed to tangible improvements in governance performance, including an "A-" rating in the national bureaucratic reform index issued by Indonesia's Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB).
Aceh's Reform Bureaucracy Index also recorded a notable increase, rising to 82.73 in 2025 from 79.69 in the previous year, when it was still categorized as BB. SMSI Chairman Firdaus M.Si described the improvement as evidence of stronger institutional performance and increased transparency in public service delivery.

Stronger Democratic Performance in SumatraBeyond administrative reform, Aceh also posted significant progress in democratic governance. Through the Kesbangpol agency, the province ranked first in Sumatra and seventh nationally in the 2025 Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI).
Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows Aceh achieving a score of 83.43—the highest in Sumatra—reflecting improved political participation, greater openness in governance, and stronger protection of civil liberties.
Crisis Response and Sports Development RoleNasir's leadership also extended to disaster management and sports development. He played an active role in preparing Aceh's contingent for the 2024 National Sports Week (PON XXI Aceh–North Sumatra), where the province finished among the top six nationally.
He also led crisis coordination efforts during the floods and landslides that struck Aceh in November 2025. As head of the emergency task force, he coordinated responses involving government agencies, military units, police, volunteers, and local authorities to ensure swift evacuation and relief distribution.

Open Government and Media CollaborationSMSI Aceh Chairman Aldin Nainggolan praised Nasir for his openness and strong working relationship with the press, describing him as a government official who actively supports transparent information flow to the public.
"His collaboration with the media, including SMSI, reflects a commitment to delivering credible and accountable public communication," he said.
An Award Is a ResponsibilityIn his acceptance remarks, Nasir said the recognition should not be viewed as a personal milestone, but rather as a continued responsibility to serve the public.
"This award is a motivation to continue contributing positively to society," he said.
He also emphasized the role of the media in supporting ongoing reform efforts, including discussions surrounding the revision of Aceh's special autonomy framework.
Commitment to Aceh's Future DevelopmentNasir reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the province's development agenda, expressing optimism about Aceh's future.
"We will use this responsibility to lead Aceh toward a better, more prosperous, and more progressive future," he concluded. (IDNC)
