DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM – The Government of Deli Serdang Regency has taken a strategic step to strengthen the quality of public administration by improving the management competencies of its civil apparatus. A total of 132 administrative officials participated in a management and governance capacity-building program held on Friday, June 12, 2016, at Berastagi Cottage.
The initiative reflects the local government's ongoing commitment to building an efficient, performance-driven bureaucracy.
Strengthening Administrative LeadershipThe program was designed to enhance teamwork, reinforce managerial understanding, and deepen participants' grasp of their duties and functions as administrative-level officials. These officials play a crucial role as the bridge between top leadership and operational execution within the government structure.
Through interactive discussions and structured training sessions, participants received additional insights into management practices, supervisory roles, and development planning. Resource persons from various institutions also contributed to broadening participants' understanding of modern governance standards.

Regent Stresses Professional BureaucracyRegent of Deli Serdang Regency, Asri Ludin Tambunan, emphasized that strengthening administrative capacity is a key pillar in improving organizational performance.
"Administrative officials hold a strategic role in ensuring that all policies and directives are properly implemented at the operational level," he stated during the opening ceremony at Berastagi Cottage.
He further encouraged participants to actively utilize the forum as a space for learning and exchange. The local government, through the Human Resources Development and Personnel Agency, BKPSDM Deli Serdang, continues to provide coaching and discussion platforms to support bureaucratic development.
Cross-Agency Collaboration for Better GovernanceThe two-day program also involved speakers from the Regional Office VI of the National Civil Service Agency, BKN Regional Office VI Medan, the Inspectorate of Deli Serdang Inspectorate, and the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency, Bappedalitbang Deli Serdang.
The sessions focused on governance systems, internal control mechanisms, and performance-based development planning.
The government hopes the program will strengthen inter-agency coordination and improve administrative efficiency, ultimately supporting transparent, accountable, and results-oriented governance. This initiative is also seen as a long-term investment in developing human resources within the public sector.
Janry Simanungkalit praised the initiative, stating that continuous competency development is essential in building a modern and adaptive bureaucracy.
"You are the talent pool of Deli Serdang. These talents must be continuously developed to meet organizational demands," he said. (IDNC)
