The mayor joined the observance from the lobby of Medan City Hall, emphasizing the city's commitment to Indonesia's foundational state philosophy.
Alongside the mayor were Deputy Mayor H. Zakiyuddin Harahap, representatives of the Medan Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), Regional Secretary Wiriya Alrahman, and senior officials of the Medan municipal government. Their collective presence underscored the administration's strong dedication to preserving and implementing Pancasila values in public governance and daily life.
Medan Leadership Joins Virtual National Ceremony
The central commemoration ceremony took place at the Pancasila Building in Jakarta, led directly by President
Prabowo Subianto. The 2026 theme, "Pancasila as the Unifying Force of the Nation, the Foundation of Global Peace," highlighted the continued relevance of Indonesia's ideological foundation amid growing global complexity.
During his remarks, President Prabowo emphasized that Pancasila is not merely a historical document, but a national consensus born from Indonesia's vast diversity.
"Pancasila has proven to be an effective instrument in uniting Indonesia's ethnicities, religions, languages, and cultures," the President stated.
Pancasila as the Foundation of Economic Justice
President Prabowo further stressed the importance of embedding Pancasila values into Indonesia's economic system. He noted that national development must prioritize public welfare while ensuring the optimal use of the country's natural resources.
"Indonesia's economy must be grounded in Pancasila values that place the people at the center. Natural resources must be utilized optimally for prosperity and justice," he said.
