JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM – Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf made a surprise appearance at the Legislative Council of the Indonesian Parliament (Badan Legislasi DPR RI) in Jakarta on Monday, May 25, 2026. The visit coincided with a public hearing (RDP) involving the Aceh Parliament regarding the revision of the Aceh Governance Law (UUPA).
Accompanied by Aceh Regional Secretary Nasir Syamaun, the governor observed the proceedings from the visitors' gallery, stating that his presence was intended to directly monitor the legislative process.
"I wanted to witness the UUPA revision process firsthand. I appreciate the efforts of the Aceh Parliament in pursuing the best outcome for the region," Muzakir Manaf said.

Earlier, Deputy Governor Fadhlullah had also arrived at the parliamentary complex.
During a brief interaction,
Muzakir Manaf encouraged Aceh legislators, saying, "Stay motivated."

Aceh Government Spokesperson Dr. Nurlis Effendi confirmed that the hearing ran smoothly without major debate, focusing solely on harmonizing draft revisions between the Indonesian Parliament, the
Aceh Parliament, and the Aceh Government.
"There were no debates. The discussion was only about aligning the UUPA revision draft among all stakeholders," he explained.

28 Amendment Points in Focus

Earlier proposals included revisions to eight articles and one additional article.
However, after further review, eight points remain unresolved, particularly regarding autonomy authority, and will be re-evaluated by the Legislative Council.
The draft also includes provisions for Aceh's Special Autonomy Fund, set at 2.5 percent of the national General Allocation Fund (DAU) ceiling.

Aceh Special Autonomy Fund has already been included at 2.5 percent of the DAU ceiling," Nurlis added.
Aceh Parliament Speaker Zulfadhli later opened the discussion and expressed appreciation for the parliamentary reception of the Aceh delegation.

Muzakir Manaf emphasized two key priorities in the revision process: strengthening autonomy in line with the
Helsinki Peace Agreement and securing the 2.5 percent special autonomy allocation.
