DPRD, Government Strengthen Regional Development Regulations in Labuhanbatu Selatan

DPRD PLENARY SESSION IN LABUHANBATU SELATAN: The Labuhanbatu Selatan DPRD plenary session discussed several strategic regional regulations aimed at accelerating development, strengthening regional revenue, and improving public welfare on Monday, May 19, 2026.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM The Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government and the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) have reinforced their commitment to accelerating regional development through a series of strategic regulations aimed at creating a modern, professional, and competitive region.

The commitment was highlighted during a DPRD plenary session held on Monday, May 19, 2026, at the DPRD plenary hall, attended by 24 council members.

The meeting marked an important step in strengthening synergy between the executive and legislative branches in formulating sustainable development policies, improving public services, and modernizing the regency.

"Every regional regulation that has been approved must provide real benefits to the people and strengthen our shared vision toward a more modern Labuhanbatu Selatan," he said during the plenary session.

Strategic Regulations Approved

During the session, the DPRD and the regency administration discussed five strategic agenda items. Two regional regulation initiatives were jointly approved, covering the protection and placement of local workers and the management of watershed areas.

Fery Sahputra Simatupang also praised the DPRD for its collaboration in drafting progressive and future-oriented legal frameworks. He further urged regional agencies to fully implement recommendations from the Regional Regulation Formation Committee to ensure policies are effective and well-targeted.

The plenary session also approved regulations concerning the prevention and eradication of drug abuse and illegal narcotics trafficking, as well as the management and economic utilization of swallow bird nests.

Government Performance Evaluation and Hospital Oversight

In addition to discussing regulations, the DPRD presented the findings of the special committee reviewing the Regent's accountability report for the 2025 fiscal year.

Fery Sahputra Simatupang welcomed the DPRD's constructive criticism and recommendations, describing them as important instruments for improving regional governance.

Representing the party factions, Democratic Party politician Hendra Panjaitan said both regional regulations were highly important in addressing current regional challenges.

According to him, the anti-drug regulation serves as a concrete effort to protect the younger generation from the dangers of narcotics abuse. Meanwhile, the swallow nest management regulation is expected to create an orderly, sustainable, and economically healthy business climate while boosting regional revenue.

"All factions generally agree with and support the ratification of these regional regulations," Hendra Panjaitan said.

Focus on Local Employment and Environmental Protection

Deputy DPRD Chairman H. Muhammad Romadon Nasution stated that the council prioritizes strategic regulations that directly address public needs.

He explained that the regulation on local workers is intended to ensure residents receive priority access to employment opportunities, especially amid increasing investment growth in Labuhanbatu Selatan.

He also described watershed management regulations as increasingly urgent to maintain ecological balance amid rapid development activities.

During the session, the DPRD also established a special committee tasked with increasing Regional Original Revenue (PAD). The committee will be chaired by Ayu Safitri, with Gindo Tongam Pasaribu serving as deputy chairman.

The committee is expected to identify new revenue potential and evaluate regional income sources in coordination with related government agencies.

The event was attended by Deputy Regent Syahdian Purba Siboro, DPRD Chairman Ari Winata, Deputy DPRD Chairwoman Irmayanti, Regional Secretary M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution, along with regional officials and representatives of the Forkopimda leadership forum. (IDNC)
