REVISION OF JKA REGULATION: Students and youth organizations in Aceh call on the provincial government to revise the JKA regulation in favor of the public. The meeting took place on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Aceh Governor’s Office.

BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM Students and several youth organizations in Aceh have called on the provincial government to immediately review and revise Governor Regulation (Pergub) No. 2 of 2026 concerning the Aceh Health Insurance program (Jaminan Kesehatan Aceh/JKA). They argue that the policy must be improved to better serve the public interest.

The demand was delivered during a meeting with the Aceh Provincial Secretary on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the "Potensi Daerah" meeting room in the Governor's Office in Banda Aceh. The discussion involved representatives of student groups and youth organizations from various regions.

Targeted Revision Without Revocation

During the forum, students emphasized that the regulation requires precise revisions rather than a full repeal. They warned that abolishing the regulation could create a legal vacuum that might disrupt the disbursement and utilization of JKA funds.

"We are not calling for the regulation to be revoked, but for a swift adjustment so it becomes more people-oriented and targeted, without jeopardizing the continuity of the JKA program," said Muhammad Revi, one of the student representatives.

The students also highlighted several aspects of the current policy that they believe do not fully reflect the real needs of the community. They urged concrete changes to ensure fair and comprehensive access to healthcare services across Aceh.

Call for Swift Government Response

At the meeting, students and youth organizations pressed the Provincial Secretary to take immediate administrative and coordination measures. They expect these actions to be formally communicated by the Governor of Aceh to the public in the near future.

According to the students, a prompt response from the government is essential to resolve ongoing controversies surrounding the implementation of the JKA program and to ensure the sustainability of healthcare services for the population.

Commitment to Monitoring Implementation

The meeting also highlighted the commitment of students and youth organizations to actively and constructively monitor the implementation of the JKA program. They see public participation—particularly from students—as a key factor in ensuring transparency and effectiveness.

They further urged the Aceh provincial government to provide greater space for public participation, enabling proper oversight and evaluation of the JKA program to maximize its benefits for the community. (IDNC)
