MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Government of North Sumatra Province, through the Regional Road Development and Construction Agency (BMBK), has launched a major infrastructure initiative to upgrade the Aek Nabara–Negeri Lama–Tj Sarang road segment. The project carries a total budget allocation of approximately Rp158 billion.
Tender Process Now UnderwayHead of the North Sumatra BMBK Agency, Chandra Dalimunthe, confirmed that the project is currently in the tender phase. Construction will be carried out over two fiscal years, 2026 and 2027, covering a total of 26 kilometers.

The contract is expected to start in early June, followed by another 16 kilometers next year," Chandra said at his office on Jalan Sakti Lubis No. 7R, Medan, Tuesday (April 28, 2026).
Two-Year Phased Budget Plan
The provincial government has structured the funding into two stages. In 2026, around Rp60 billion will be allocated to repair the first 10 kilometers of the road. The remaining Rp98.46 billion is scheduled for 2027 to complete the final 16 kilometers.
"The project is divided into two phases due to budget limitations—Rp60 billion this year and more than Rp98 billion next year," he explained.

North Sumatra has prioritized the road's rehabilitation, given its importance to the community. He also stressed that all work will follow proper procurement regulations.
"The Governor understands the importance of this road for the community, which is why we have been instructed to proceed with the repairs. However, we must still follow the established mechanisms," he added. (IDNC)
