GEBYAR PAJAK NORTH SUMATRA 2026: The program boosts motor vehicle tax revenue in North Sumatra by 30 percent in its first month.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The newly launched Gebyar Pajak Sumatera Utara 2026 program is already delivering significant results for regional tax performance. In its first month of implementation, North Sumatra recorded a sharp increase in Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) revenue.

Strong Revenue Growth in First Month

Head of the North Sumatra Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), Sutan Tolang Lubis, announced on Monday (April 20, 2026) in Medan that the tax campaign has been actively promoted to the public since its launch on March 9, 2026.

"Since the introduction of the Gebyar Pajak program, we have seen a significant increase in motor vehicle tax revenue," Sutan said.

From March 9 to April 9, 2026, PKB revenue reached IDR 125 billion, up from IDR 96 billion in the same period last year. This marks an increase of around IDR 28 billion, or approximately 30 percent year-on-year growth.

Government Targets Higher Revenue in 2026

Sutan also outlined the provincial government's medium-term fiscal targets. In 2025, the PKB revenue target was set at IDR 1.7 trillion, although actual realization reached IDR 1.4 trillion. For 2026, the target has been raised to IDR 1.8 trillion.

"In 2025, around 2.2 million vehicles were registered as tax objects," he added.

Incentives and Quarterly Prize Draws Introduced

Beyond revenue growth, the program aims to improve taxpayer compliance and awareness. Gebyar Pajak is positioned as an appreciation scheme for citizens who pay their taxes on time.

"Unlike previous tax relief programs, this time we focus on rewarding compliant taxpayers," Sutan explained.

The initiative will include quarterly prize draws, totaling four rounds per year, along with a grand draw. The first draw is scheduled for May 10, 2026. (IDNC)
