BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Aceh provincial government has urged the central government and relevant agencies to speed up the distribution of aid and reconstruction programs for flood and landslide victims in eight severely affected districts. Vice Governor Fadhlullah made the appeal during a meeting with leaders and members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (MPR RI) on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Aceh Governor's Office.
The
MPR RI delivered aid packages to the hardest-hit districts, including Aceh Utara, Bireuen, Gayo Lues, Aceh Tamiang, Aceh Timur, Pidie Jaya, Bener Meriah, and Aceh Tengah. Attendees included
MPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani, Deputy Chairmen Bambang Wuryanto and Hidayat Nur Wahid, as well as Eddy Soeparno, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, and Abcandra Muhammad Akbar Supratman.
Vice Governor Fadhlullah reported that Aceh has been grappling with the aftermath of the disasters for over two months. Approximately 17,000 households, or around 69,000 people, remain in temporary shelters. The number of evacuees is gradually decreasing as many return to provisional housing or their own homes.
"We hope the Ministry of Social Affairs can expedite assistance, including livelihood payments, furniture subsidies, and economic aid—ideally before the fasting month of Ramadan,"
Fadhlullah said.
He also called for the rapid restoration of agricultural land and the fulfillment of the 1,455 cattle promised by President Prabowo Subianto for the Meugang tradition.
Central Government Supports Reconstruction EffortsInterior Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian stated that since the establishment of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Taskforce on January 8, 2026, various sectors have resumed operations, including administration, public services, education, road infrastructure, and economic and social activities. Nevertheless, around 74,000 people in Aceh remain displaced.
Tito emphasized the importance of fast compensation payments for residents with damaged homes and urged local authorities to promptly submit data to the Statistics Agency (BPS) to accelerate data collection.
"Accurate data is crucial; we want to avoid future audits," Tito noted.
MPR RI Advocates for Victims' NeedsMPR RI Chairman Ahmad Muzani described the visit as a continuation of discussions with Governor Muzakir Manaf on disaster response. Governor Muzakir highlighted the need for a dedicated rehabilitation and reconstruction agency and pointed to regional financial constraints affecting temporary shelters and livelihoods.
"Everything reported to us has been forwarded to the President. What happens in Aceh concerns us all. Aceh's pain is our pain," Muzani said.
The MPR RI also advocated for temporary removal of fuel barcode controls, coverage of 500,000 JKA health insurance beneficiaries by the state budget, and provision of Meugang cattle for affected residents. During the visit, the MPR RI delivered 15,000 aid packages, including instant noodles, cooking oil, tea, biscuits, baby care products, feminine hygiene items, and religious materials such as prayer mats, sarongs, clothing, mukenas, and Qur'ans in preparation for Ramadan.
