DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government is providing an additional monthly income allowance of IDR 500,000 to 2,717 teachers and education staff employed under part-time Government Employment Agreements (PPPK). Introduced in August 2026, the policy aims to improve the financial circumstances of education workers and support efforts to maintain the quality of local education services.

The additional payment is provided on top of their regular salaries. After a five per cent deduction for Article 21 Income Tax (PPh 21), equivalent to IDR 25,000, each eligible employee receives a net monthly allowance of IDR 475,000.

The policy recognises the contribution of education workers, who play important roles in classroom teaching and school administration.

The 2,717 beneficiaries include teachers and administrative staff working at kindergartens (TK), primary schools (SD), junior secondary schools (SMP) and Learning Activity Centres (SKB).

Each eligible employee receives an additional IDR 500,000 per month, bringing the total monthly allocation before tax deductions to IDR 1,358,500,000.

Of this amount, five per cent, or IDR 67,925,000, is withheld each month as Article 21 Income Tax. Following the deduction, the total net monthly allowance paid to all beneficiaries amounts to IDR 1,290,575,000.

Education Department Highlights Support for Staff Welfare

The Head of the Deli Serdang Education Department, A. Fitriyan Syukri, said the policy reflected the local government's recognition of the contribution made by teachers and education staff employed under part-time government contracts.

"The provision of this additional income is an expression of the Deli Serdang Regency Government's concern for the welfare of teachers and education staff employed under part-time government contracts. We hope this assistance will help them meet their living expenses while motivating them to strengthen their commitment and improve the quality of education services for the community," he said on Friday, 30 October 2026.

He added that the financial assistance was intended to help employees meet their daily needs while encouraging them to carry out their professional responsibilities with greater commitment.

Teachers contribute not only through classroom instruction but also by helping shape students' character, develop their abilities and prepare younger generations for future challenges. Administrative staff, meanwhile, play an essential role in ensuring that school operations and educational data management run smoothly.

Better Working Conditions to Support Education Quality

Improving the financial circumstances of education workers is an important factor in maintaining the continuity and quality of educational services. Effective cooperation between teaching and administrative staff is essential to the smooth operation of schools.

Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan and Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo have placed the improvement of working conditions in the education sector among the regional government's priorities. The additional income allowance forms part of these efforts.

Through the policy, which has been in effect since August 2026, the regency government hopes that the 2,717 teachers and education staff will be able to carry out their duties with greater financial security and motivation. The measure is also expected to contribute to improvements in educational services, from classroom teaching to school administration.

The initiative reflects the regional government's recognition that strengthening the education workforce is an important part of developing a better and more sustainable education system for the people of Deli Serdang. (IDNC)
