Aceh Secretary Opens 2026 UKW and AMSI National Seminar in Banda Aceh

OPENING OF UKW AND AMSI NATIONAL SEMINAR: Aceh Provincial Secretary officially opens the 2026 UKW and AMSI National Seminar at Ayani Hotel, Banda Aceh, attended by the Aceh Police Chief and Forkopimda officials.

BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ Aceh Provincial Secretary, M. Nasir, officially opened the Journalist Competency Test (UKW) and the 2026 AMSI National Seminar held at Ayani Hotel, Banda Aceh, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. The event was organized by the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (AMSI) Aceh to strengthen the quality and professionalism of journalists in the region.

The opening ceremony was attended by Aceh Police Chief Inspector General Marzuki Ali Basyah, representatives of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), academics, media professionals, and UKW participants from various regions.

Strengthening Journalism Competence in the Digital Era

In his remarks, Nasir praised AMSI Aceh for organizing the UKW and national seminar, describing it as a strategic effort to enhance journalism human resources.

He stressed that the rapid flow of information requires journalists to verify facts carefully, uphold ethical standards, and continuously adapt to digital technologies.

"The UKW combined with this seminar is a strategic step to strengthen journalistic capacity," Nasir said.

Media as an Information Pillar After Natural Disasters

Nasir also highlighted recent hydrometeorological disasters in Aceh and the crucial role of the media in post-disaster recovery.

He noted that media organizations function not only as information providers but also as pillars of transparency and bridges between the government and the public.

"Media sustainability must be safeguarded as they are part of essential social infrastructure supporting democracy and information security," he added.

Strengthening the Media Ecosystem and Industry Sustainability

Nasir further emphasized that the seminar's focus on revitalizing the media business ecosystem after disasters is highly relevant to current challenges.

He expressed hope that the forum would generate strategic insights and practical recommendations for developing Aceh's media industry.

According to him, competent journalists produce more accurate, responsible, and resilient reporting in an increasingly complex information environment.

The Aceh Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting a healthy and professional media ecosystem through collaboration with media organizations, the private sector, and academia. The event concluded with the official opening of the UKW and AMSI National Seminar 2026.
