TAPANULI TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ North Sumatra Governor, Bobby Nasution, conducted a direct inspection of the Badiri River embankment construction in Badiri District, Central Tapanuli Regency, as part of efforts to accelerate post-disaster reconstruction on Monday, April 13, 2026.

Tapanuli Tengah Regent Masinton Pasaribu and provincial officials, the governor reviewed ongoing progress and ensured that all works are proceeding according to plan.

Bobby Nasution emphasized that funding for the project has already been secured, urging immediate implementation without delays.
"We request that the embankment construction here be accelerated as the budget is already available. There should be no delay, and riverbank stabilization must be carried out immediately," he stated.
Officials also identified operational challenges on-site, which are being addressed to maintain project continuity, particularly amid persistent heavy rainfall affecting the region.

The governor stressed the importance of technical precision to avoid administrative or operational setbacks. Authorities were also urged to prepare for extreme weather conditions that previously contributed to flood damage along the riverbanks.
He further called on local residents to support the construction process, including easing access to work zones. Temporary river diversion measures, according to the Public Works Agency, are necessary to ensure smooth execution of the project.

Risk Zones and Relocation Efforts
Bobby Nasution reiterated warnings against permanent settlement in red-zone areas along riverbanks, where flood risks remain high. While economic activities may continue, residential occupation in these zones is discouraged.
The provincial government has committed to providing assistance for affected households, including reconstruction support and possible relocation programs.
