MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The North Sumatra Provincial Government continues to accelerate the implementation of regional development programs by mapping and evaluating all ongoing activities. The government has set a target to complete all development activities no later than December 26, 2026.
Head of the Development Administration Bureau at the Secretariat of the North Sumatra Provincial Government, Faisal Arif Nasution, conveyed the target during a press conference organized by the North Sumatra Communications and Informatics Agency on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the lobby of the Dekranasda Building at the North Sumatra Governor's Office.
5,395 Activities Spread Across 42 Agencies
Faisal explained that the North Sumatra Provincial Government is currently monitoring the implementation of all activities distributed among various regional government agencies. At the same time, the government is identifying programs that require acceleration so that the target of completing development activities by the end of the year is not jeopardized.
"There are a total of 42 regional government agencies carrying out 5,395 physical infrastructure activities and physical non-infrastructure activities this year," Faisal said.
Of the total, 853 activities fall under the infrastructure category, while another 4,542 are classified as physical non-infrastructure activities. In addition, the North Sumatra Provincial Government is implementing two national strategic programs, 364 Regional Strategic Program activities, 236 Quick-Win Program activities, and 655 activities under regional financial transfers.
Faisal explained that a budget of approximately Rp4.4 trillion has been allocated for all of these activities. Contracts have so far been signed for works worth approximately Rp3.7 trillion.
Given the large number of activities and the substantial budget involved, the North Sumatra Provincial Government must conduct regular monitoring and supervision. The Development Administration Bureau at the Secretariat of the North Sumatra Provincial Government collects progress reports from each regional government agency to determine the status of implementation and identify activities requiring special attention.
"For physical implementation, we receive reports from each regional government agency on the 10th of every month. This month's report is currently still being entered into the Progress Report Pengendalian Pembangunan Sumatera Utara (PRP2) application," Faisal said.
According to Faisal, this reporting mechanism is one of the instruments used by the provincial government to monitor the progress of activities on a regular basis. The incoming data then serves as the basis for evaluation and for determining acceleration measures for projects whose implementation is behind schedule.

PHTC Reaches 39.30 Percent Physical Progress
Faisal also reported on the progress of the Quick-Win Program in North Sumatra. The program involves nine regional government agencies with a total of 236 activities.
The North Sumatra Provincial Government has allocated approximately Rp1.1 trillion for the PHTC. Contracts have already been signed for works worth approximately Rp1 trillion. The program's physical implementation has currently reached 39.30 percent.
Faisal explained that the government continues to closely monitor the progress of each activity under the program. The evaluation covers not only physical progress but also the procurement of goods and services, as well as various technical and non-technical obstacles that could affect the completion of the works.
In addition to PHTC, the North Sumatra Provincial Government is also implementing the Regional Strategic Program, which was established through a decree issued by the Governor of North Sumatra. The program involves 23 regional government agencies carrying out a total of 364 activities.
The Regional Strategic Program has been allocated a budget of approximately Rp916 billion. Contracts have already been signed for works worth Rp826 billion. Physical implementation of the Regional Strategic Program reached 31.61 percent by the third quarter.
Faisal explained that regional development continues to be influenced by various factors, as each activity has its own characteristics, implementation stages, and procurement processes. Therefore, the Development Administration Bureau continues to conduct detailed data collection and analysis of factors affecting the progress of individual activities.

Provincial Government Strengthens Monitoring Through PRP2
According to Faisal, the procurement schedule for goods and services is also an important aspect of the evaluation process. Some activities were only contracted in the middle or toward the end of the year. Therefore, the government needs to intensify monitoring to ensure that implementation continues according to the established schedule.
"Some activities were only contracted in July and September. Considering the remaining time, however, we are confident that all activities can be completed no later than December 26, 2026. This is our shared commitment so that the goals of the Governor and Vice Governor can be achieved on schedule," Faisal emphasized.
To strengthen monitoring, the Development Administration Bureau at the Secretariat of the North Sumatra Provincial Government uses the Progress Report Pengendalian Pembangunan Sumatera Utara application, known as PRP2 Sumatera Utara. The application supports the government in monitoring the progress of activities based on data submitted by the respective regional government agencies.
Each regional government agency has also appointed an administrator responsible for regularly entering implementation data. The North Sumatra Provincial Government has set the 10th of each month as the latest deadline for data submission. This mechanism is intended to ensure that progress can be recorded and analyzed as quickly as possible.
The reporting system is also part of efforts to improve the accuracy of development data. Through regular data updates, the government can monitor the progress of activities in a more measurable manner and take the necessary steps when delays in individual projects begin to emerge.
Faisal emphasized that his bureau would continue coordinating with all regional government agencies to ensure that implementation proceeds according to the established targets. The North Sumatra Provincial Government is also urging all regional government agencies to accelerate their work without disregarding the applicable regulations governing the implementation of government activities.
"We are optimistic that all activities can be completed before the end of the year," Faisal said.
December 26, 2026, therefore remains the key deadline that the North Sumatra Provincial Government will continuously monitor. Through activity mapping, regular evaluations, contract monitoring, and the use of the PRP2 Sumatera Utara application, the provincial government aims to ensure that planned development programs are implemented and deliver benefits to the public.
