DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM- Deli Serdang Regency Secretary Dedi Maswardy laid the foundation stone for four infrastructure projects in Sunggal District, Deli Serdang Regency, on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The projects cover healthcare facilities, public spaces, regional landmarks and road access to support surrounding areas. The developments are expected to provide direct benefits to local residents.
The four projects comprise the construction of
Puskesmas Medan Krio and the
Sunggal District Alun-Alun in Medan Krio Village, the Tugu Sei Semayang monument on Jalan Orde Baru, the access road from Simpang Mandiri to the Semayang toll gate, and the
Deli Serdang-Binjai boundary gate on Jalan Medan-Binjai at Kilometer 16.5.
The foundation-laying ceremony is part of the Deli Serdang Regency Government's efforts to strengthen infrastructure development based directly on the needs of the community. The administration aims to ensure that the projects not only provide physical facilities but also contribute to improvements in public services, healthcare, economic activity and regional identity.
Infrastructure to Improve Public Services
Dedi Maswardy said the construction of the various facilities was part of the Deli Serdang Regency Government's efforts to implement the vision and policy priorities of the regent and deputy regent. Particular emphasis, he said, was being placed on improving public services and the overall health of the community.
"These projects are part of the programs of the regent and deputy regent of
Deli Serdang, which directly address the needs of the community. Through the construction of healthcare facilities, public spaces and other supporting infrastructure, we hope to improve the quality of public services while also raising the health standards of the community," Dedi said.
According to Dedi, the regency government will continue developing infrastructure that can be used by residents broadly and sustainably. For that reason, each project takes into account not only current needs but also its long-term benefits for the community.
The construction of
Puskesmas Medan Krio, for example, is expected to strengthen healthcare services in the
Sunggal area. Meanwhile, the new
Sunggal District Alun-Alun is intended to provide a public space that residents can use for various social activities and community events.
The construction of the access road from Simpang Mandiri to the Semayang toll gate is part of efforts to develop transportation infrastructure and improve regional connectivity. The new infrastructure is expected to facilitate mobility while supporting economic activities in surrounding areas.

Infrastructure Projects Create Employment Opportunities
In addition to providing facilities for the public, the
Deli Serdang Regency Government is also directing infrastructure development toward generating immediate economic benefits. Dedi said the administration was involving residents from Decile Groups 1 to 5 in various construction projects.
"This is one of the programs of the regent and deputy regent of Deli Serdang to increase employment opportunities and reduce the open unemployment rate. In every infrastructure project, we employ people from Decile Groups 1 to 5 so they can earn income while the construction work is underway," he said.
The involvement of local residents in construction projects is one of the measures taken by the regency government to expand employment opportunities while creating additional sources of income for the community. Through this approach, the benefits of infrastructure development are expected to be felt not only after the facilities are completed but also throughout the construction phase.
Dedi expressed hope that the policy would contribute to improving community welfare. The regency government also wants to ensure that development has a broad impact by involving residents in various stages of projects wherever possible.
In his view, infrastructure development must go hand in hand with improvements in the social and economic conditions of the community. Construction projects in various areas are therefore expected to stimulate economic activity while creating employment opportunities for people living in surrounding communities.

Boundary Gate and Monument Strengthen Regional Identity
Dedi also emphasized the importance of maintaining the facilities once construction has been completed. He called on residents to participate in maintaining the various infrastructure facilities so that the government and community can work together to preserve their quality and long-term benefits.
"When the construction work is completed and the facilities are officially inaugurated, we hope that the entire community will jointly protect and maintain these public facilities. The infrastructure that has been built must be used sustainably, and its quality should continue to be improved through community participation," he said.
In addition to supporting public services and regional connectivity, the Deli Serdang-Binjai boundary gate and Tugu Sei Semayang monument serve another purpose as symbols of regional identity. Both structures are expected to enhance the appearance of the area while strengthening residents' sense of belonging to their region.
Dedi explained that the
Deli Serdang-Binjai boundary gate would provide residents and road users with a clearly visible marker of the area. The gate will also serve as a visual landmark identifying the boundary between
Deli Serdang Regency and Binjai City.
"This gate marks the boundary between Deli Serdang and Binjai. Through the boundary gate, residents and road users will recognize that they have entered the territory of Deli Serdang Regency. Tugu Sei Semayang is also being built with the hope of strengthening the community's pride in its region," Dedi said.
The construction of Tugu Sei Semayang is likewise part of efforts to strengthen the identity of the area. The monument is not intended merely to serve as a regional marker but also to carry symbolic value by fostering residents' pride in their surroundings and their region.
The Deli Serdang Regency Government hopes all projects will be completed according to plan and provide benefits to the community once finished. At the same time, the administration has called on residents to jointly maintain the completed facilities so that the infrastructure can continue delivering long-term benefits to society.
Also attending the event were heads of relevant agencies within the regency administration,
Sunggal District Head M. Guntur Endar Bumi Nasution, and several village heads.
