MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, paid a working visit to Karo Regency in North Sumatra Province on Friday, September 11, 2026. As part of the visit, Vice President Gibran was scheduled to visit several alleged victims of food poisoning reportedly linked to the Free Nutritious Meals (Makanan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) program, who remain under medical treatment at several hospitals in Berastagi.
The visit was part of Vice President Gibran's working agenda in North Sumatra. Accompanied by his delegation, he traveled to Karo Regency after previously staying at the Grandika Setia Budi Hotel on Jalan Dr. Mansyur No. 169 in Medan.
North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya welcomed Vice President Gibran's arrival before seeing off the delegation as it prepared to continue its journey to Karo. The delegation left the hotel at around 8:10 a.m. local time.
Vice President Gibran to Visit Victims in Berastagi
As part of his visit to Karo Regency, Vice President Gibran was scheduled to visit Evarina Etaham Hospital in Berastagi. There, he was expected to meet one of the alleged MBG poisoning victims, Agnesia Br Silitonga.
After visiting Evarina Etaham Hospital, Vice President Gibran was scheduled to continue to Amanda Hospital in Berastagi. There, he was expected to meet another victim, Febiola Br Purba.
The visits to the two hospitals were also intended to allow the Vice President to receive an update on the condition of the patients, who remain under medical care. In addition, Vice President Gibran was expected to observe firsthand the medical treatment being provided to the patients.
The visit underscored the government's attention to the condition of people whose health problems are suspected to be associated with the Free Nutritious Meals program. Vice President Gibran was expected to receive a direct update on the condition of the affected patients at the hospitals where they are being treated.

Before continuing to Karo, Vice President Gibran and his delegation stayed in Medan. North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya welcomed the Vice President and subsequently saw off the delegation as it prepared to continue its journey.
At around 8:10 a.m. local time, Surya saw off Vice President Gibran's delegation at the hotel. The group then departed for Karo Regency to carry out the scheduled working agenda.
The trip to Karo was part of Vice President Gibran's working agenda in North Sumatra. One of the key activities was the planned visit to alleged MBG poisoning victims who remain hospitalized in the Berastagi area.

Victims' Health Conditions in Focus
During his visit to Karo, Vice President Gibran was scheduled to visit two hospitals, Evarina Etaham Hospital and Amanda Hospital in Berastagi.
At Evarina Etaham Hospital, he was scheduled to visit Agnesia Br Silitonga. Vice President Gibran was then expected to proceed to Amanda Hospital to receive an update on the condition of Febiola Br Purba, who is also undergoing medical treatment.
