The Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih will be developed on an area of approximately 1.2 hectares. During the first phase of construction, the government and the implementing contractor will develop an area of around 800 square meters, which will be equipped with various facilities to support fishermen.
The facilities will include boat docking areas, shelters, sales stalls, the foundation for an ice factory, and other supporting infrastructure. Further development of the area will be adjusted to the needs of fishermen and local conditions to ensure that the facilities provide sustainable long-term benefits.
Government Strengthens Fishermen's Infrastructure
Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan said the construction of Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening its presence in efforts to improve the comfort and welfare of fishermen.
According to him, the first phase of construction does not mark the end of the area's development. The government will assess actual needs on the ground before determining additional facilities and subsequent development stages. This approach is intended to ensure that the area can provide broader support for fishermen's activities in the future.
"This is evidence that the government is present to improve the comfort and welfare of fishermen. The facilities will be further developed according to future needs," he said, accompanied by Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo SS.
The construction of Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih is also part of a national strategic program. Therefore, the regional government hopes that the development will not take place in isolation, but instead be connected with existing fisheries facilities in the surrounding area.
Integrating the various facilities is one of the government's priorities to make fishermen's activities more efficient. The government believes that connecting Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih with the existing fish market or fish auction facility could accelerate the distribution and handling of fishermen's catches.

"We hope the area can be integrated with the existing fish auction facility so that economic circulation can be accelerated," he said.
With planned docking areas, sales stalls, shelters, and the foundation for an ice factory, the area is expected to become an important support center for the fisheries sector in Paluh Sibaji. The facilities are intended to assist fishermen both after returning from the sea and while preparing for their next trip.
The regional government will continue developing the area in accordance with the needs of the community. The gradual expansion is intended to ensure that Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih serves not only as infrastructure supporting fishermen, but also as a driver of economic development for coastal communities in Pantai Labu District.

Construction Targeted for Completion Within 120 Days
During the first phase, PT Multi Gapura Pembangunan Semesta will undertake construction of Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih in Paluh Sibaji. Company representative Hendar said the company aims to complete all work in the first phase within 120 calendar days.
The target follows the deadline for completing the project by the end of the year. The company aims to finish construction before the close of the fiscal year.
"In accordance with the year-end deadline on December 30," he said.
The 120-calendar-day completion target requires the construction work to be carried out according to schedule. At the same time, the regional government and contractor must ensure that each facility is properly constructed so the area can be used by the community as soon as possible.
The foundation-laying ceremony marks the beginning of physical construction of Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih in Paluh Sibaji. The government hopes the project will provide a foundation for more comprehensive development of fishermen's infrastructure in subsequent phases.
The ceremony was also attended by Deli Serdang Fisheries Agency Head Erlita Lubis and other heads of regional agencies. The Pantai Labu District Head and members of the district-level leadership coordination forum were also present at the event.
Local residents also witnessed the start of construction of the area, which is intended to support fishermen's activities. The community's presence also reflects residents' interest in infrastructure development directly connected to economic activities along the coast.
