ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Free Nutritious Meals Program, locally known as Makanan Bergizi Gratis (MBG), was officially launched at SDN 4 Rusip Elementary School in Atu Singkih Village, Rusip Antara District, Aceh Tengah, on Monday (April 6, 2026).
The initiative is implemented by the
SPPG Rusip Nutrition Unit under the management of Yayasan Gizi Mutiara Indah. It forms part of the Indonesian government's national strategy to improve nutritional standards, particularly among children and vulnerable groups in the region.
The launch event was attended by representatives from the Aceh Tengah regional government, Rusip Antara district officials, local authorities (Muspika), village leaders, police officers, school principals, and foundation representatives.

Strengthening Nutrition and Combating StuntingThe MBG program aims to enhance human resource quality through sustainable access to balanced nutrition. It is also expected to significantly reduce stunting rates and cases of malnutrition in Rusip Antara District.

Thousands of Meals Distributed
As part of its implementation, the
SPPG Rusip unit has distributed a total of 2,240 portions of nutritious meals. Beneficiaries include kindergarten, elementary, and secondary school students, as well as pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers.
Strict food safety standards are enforced to ensure the quality and safety of all meals. To date, no cases of food poisoning related to the program have been reported.

Police Ensure Program TransparencyAceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq welcomed the initiative and affirmed the commitment of security forces to support its implementation.
"This free nutritious meals program is a concrete step toward improving the health of the younger generation while supporting national priorities. We will actively monitor its implementation to ensure transparency and accurate targeting," he said.
He also emphasized the importance of oversight to prevent potential irregularities such as hoarding or misuse. Transparency and accountability, he noted, are key to the program's long-term success. (IDNC)
