MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM ~ Dozens of prospective Hajj pilgrims from Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia, received meningitis and polio vaccinations on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
The vaccination drive was organized by the Medan Sunggal Health Center (Puskesmas) and led by Dr. Dina Hartini Harahap, head of the local unit, with support from staff member Hafiza.
Protecting Pilgrims from Diseases Before the Journey
Dr. Dina Hartini emphasized that the vaccinations aim to strengthen the pilgrims' immunity before traveling to the Holy Land.
"The administration of meningitis and polio vaccines is crucial to protect pilgrims from illnesses that could jeopardize their health during the Hajj journey," she explained.

Prospective pilgrims were required to bring a copy of their national ID (KTP) for administrative purposes. Dr. Dina encouraged all Hajj pilgrims in the Medan Sunggal Health Center's service area to participate in the vaccination campaign, ensuring optimal protection before departure.

The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has published the 2026 departure schedule. Pilgrims from Medan will travel in multiple groups (Kloter). The first group is set to depart on April 22, 2026, after arriving at the Hajj hostel on April 21, 2026. The entire departure process is scheduled to conclude by the end of May 2026. (IDNC)
