DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Team for the Family Welfare Empowerment Movement (TP PKK) on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, reviewed the implementation of the Bangga Kencana, Health, and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) categories in Tiga Juhar and Durian IV Mbelang villages, Sinembah Tanjung Muda Hulu (STM Hulu) District.
The monitoring activities were not only part of the evaluation phase for PKK programs at the village level, but also provided an opportunity for cadres to assess program implementation and strengthen cooperation with village administrations and local communities. The Deli Serdang Regency TP PKK also encouraged each village to develop programs that reflect the needs and potential of its respective communities.
The Deli Serdang Regency TP PKK's Expert Advisor I, Asniar Lom Lom Suwondo, said the monitoring was part of efforts to guide and evaluate the implementation of basic PKK programs at the village level. She said the visit was important to directly assess conditions in the field and determine how far cadres and village administrations had implemented various programs designed to address community needs.
In addition to evaluation, Asniar said the activity could serve as a platform to strengthen solidarity among cadres and encourage the development of various innovations. However, she reminded cadres that innovation should not be created solely for the sake of competitions.
"It is not necessary to force innovations that do not suit the conditions of the village. Look at the needs of the community and develop innovations based on those needs. Most importantly, there must be solidarity among the cadres, village administration and community," she said.
Programs Must Be Implemented Sustainably
Asniar emphasized that all ongoing PKK programs should continue even after the competition series has ended. In her view, the success of a program should not be measured solely by its results during the evaluation, but also by whether the community is able to incorporate positive habits into their daily lives over the long term.
This is particularly relevant to the implementation of the Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) program. Residents need to make environmental cleanliness, access to clean water, proper sanitation and healthy lifestyles an integral part of their daily routines.
"This must not be done only because of a competition. Once the competition is over, clean and healthy living habits must continue," she said.
To ensure sustainability, village administrations together with PKK cadres should actively encourage residents to participate in maintaining their environment. One way to do this is through regular "Clean Friday" (Jumat Bersih) activities involving residents in their respective neighborhoods.
The activities could include cleaning drainage channels, culverts, public facilities and various areas that could pose potential health risks or affect environmental cleanliness. Direct community participation could also strengthen residents' sense of responsibility and attachment to their living environment.
In addition to cleanliness, PKK cadres must also pay attention to various social issues emerging within the community. Asniar urged cadres to actively collect data so that village administrations can gain a clearer picture of residents' conditions and take appropriate measures.
Issues requiring attention include uninhabitable or inadequate housing, children dropping out of school and residents requiring access to health services. Data collected by the cadres is expected to help village administrations develop more targeted programs.

Promoting Healthy and Smoke-Free Environments
Asniar also reminded residents of the importance of maintaining a healthy and smoke-free environment. Particular attention should be given to families with children, as exposure to tobacco smoke indoors can degrade the quality of the home environment and pose health risks to children.
She expressed hope that people who continue to smoke would become more mindful of their family members' health and use designated smoking areas. Smoking inside the home should be avoided so that children are not directly exposed to cigarette smoke.
The message is part of efforts to promote the implementation of PHBS not only in connection with PKK evaluations, but also as part of everyday family life. According to Asniar, the success of health programs largely depends on how consistently people adopt healthy habits in their respective environments.
For this reason, PKK cadres play an important role as motivators and as a bridge for delivering information to the community. Cadres should not limit themselves to disseminating information, but should also lead by example through the daily practice of clean and healthy living.

Cadres Encouraged to Build Confidence and Keep Innovating
On the occasion, Asniar also encouraged PKK cadres in Tiga Juhar and Durian IV Mbelang villages to continuously improve their knowledge and skills. Cadres can learn through discussions, exchanging experiences or visiting other villages that have successfully implemented programs.
According to her, the success of one village in implementing PKK programs can serve as a learning resource for other villages. However, each village must adapt programs adopted from elsewhere to its own conditions, needs and local potential.
In this way, innovations will not emerge merely as competition-oriented programs, but will instead provide tangible benefits to the community.
Asniar also urged cadres not to feel inferior simply because their villages are located far from the center of Deli Serdang Regency. Distance should not become a reason to limit the creativity or dedication of cadres in implementing PKK programs.
"Do not feel inferior even though you are far from the center of the regency. Show that our village exists, that our village can achieve something and that our village can succeed," she emphasized.
Through the 2026 monitoring of the Bangga Kencana, Health and PHBS categories, the Deli Serdang Regency TP PKK hopes that Tiga Juhar and Durian IV Mbelang villages will continue strengthening the implementation of their programs among residents.
Solidarity among PKK cadres, village administrations and the community is one of the key factors in ensuring the sustainable implementation of these programs. At the same time, innovations tailored to local needs are expected to have a tangible impact on improving the quality of life of residents.
The results of the guidance and evaluation conducted through the monitoring activities are expected to serve as a basis for further improvements in the next phase. Tiga Juhar and Durian IV Mbelang are also expected to demonstrate their programs, innovations and cadre solidarity to the fullest, achieve the best possible results and advance their achievements to the provincial level in North Sumatra (Sumatera Utara).
