DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan, accompanied by Deli Serdang TP PKK Chairwoman Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, laid the foundation stone for the construction of three new classrooms (RKB) and an assembly hall at SMP Negeri 1 Beringin. The Deli Serdang Regency Government has set a construction period of 120 working days for the completion of the educational facilities.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by students of SMP Negeri 1 Beringin. Involving students from the very beginning of the construction process is part of the government's efforts to foster their sense of responsibility and attachment to the school facilities they will use together in the future.

The Deli Serdang Regent said the new classrooms were specifically being built to meet students' needs during lessons. Therefore, he said, it was important to involve students from the outset so they understand that educational facilities are not merely for use, but must also be jointly cared for and maintained.

"These classrooms are being built for the children. That is why we involve them from the beginning, so they develop a sense of attachment and responsibility to protect and maintain these facilities," the Regent said.

The construction of the three new classrooms and the assembly hall is not solely aimed at expanding school infrastructure. The Deli Serdang Regency Government is also directing the project toward creating social and economic benefits for people living in the surrounding area.

Construction Work Creates Employment Opportunities

In implementing the project, the government is also involving workers from lower-income communities. The measure is part of efforts to create employment opportunities for local residents while helping reduce unemployment and poverty rates in the region.

This approach demonstrates that the development of educational infrastructure can go hand in hand with efforts to strengthen local communities. By involving people in need of economic opportunities in the construction work, the development of the school facilities is expected to deliver broader benefits—not only for students and teachers, but also for the surrounding community.

Construction of the three new classrooms and the assembly hall at SMP Negeri 1 Beringin is expected to be completed within 120 working days. The Deli Serdang Regency Government hopes the work will progress according to schedule so the facilities can be used for teaching and learning activities as soon as possible.

In addition to inspecting progress on the construction of the classrooms and assembly hall, the Deli Serdang Regent also inspected the futsal court on the SMP Negeri 1 Beringin school grounds. The court is now in the final stage of completion and is expected to be available for students as soon as possible.

Futsal Court to Support Students' Talents

During the inspection of the futsal court, the Regent said the sports facility was intended to provide students with space to develop their interests and talents. Sports facilities on school grounds, he said, are important in supporting students' development not only academically, but also through extracurricular activities.

The futsal court will give students an opportunity to train more intensively and further develop their sporting abilities. In addition to promoting physical activity, the facility can also help strengthen discipline, teamwork and a healthy competitive spirit among students.

The Deli Serdang Regency Government continues to work toward ensuring that educational facilities serve a broader purpose. Schools should not only be places for classroom learning, but should also provide an environment that supports the development of students' character, creativity, skills and talents.

During his visit, the Regent also responded to the needs of scouting activities at SMP Negeri 1 Beringin. Among the needs raised was the procurement of new tents to replace equipment that has already been damaged.

Scouting Equipment Also in Focus

The need for scouting equipment is part of the government's attention to extracurricular activities in schools. Scouting plays an important role in developing independence, discipline, leadership skills and teamwork among students.

The procurement of new tents is expected to support scouting activities and enable students to participate in various programs with more suitable equipment. Supporting extracurricular activities is also an important part of creating a school environment that can develop students' diverse abilities and potential in a comprehensive manner.

The Deli Serdang Regent emphasized that the development and provision of school facilities must ultimately make a direct contribution to increasing students' motivation to learn while supporting teachers in carrying out their educational responsibilities.

He expressed hope that the facilities provided by the government would be used optimally and jointly maintained by the entire school community. In this way, the facilities would not only provide short-term benefits, but could also be utilized in the long term by students and future generations.

"I hope the facilities provided will further motivate students to learn and support teachers in their work, as well as in educating and developing the younger generation," he said in closing.

The construction of three new classrooms and an assembly hall at SMP Negeri 1 Beringin, the completion of the futsal court, and the consideration of the needs of scouting activities are part of efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure in Deli Serdang Regency. The Regency Government hopes that improved facilities will be accompanied by better educational quality and the continued development of students' potential. (IDNC)
