DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Regent Dr. H. Asri Ludin Tambunan inspected SD Negeri 101833 in Sibolangit Subdistrict on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The visit was related to the district administration's plan to use the school grounds as the site for the construction of offices for the Fire and Rescue Service (Damkar) and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in Sibolangit.
The
Deli Serdang Regency Government considers the site strategic for strengthening fire protection and disaster management services in the
Sibolangit area. In addition to preparing the site for the
Damkar and
BPBD offices, the district administration also plans to use part of the school building for educational services for the community.
The plan was developed after the government found that enrollment at SD Negeri 101833 had fallen to just 28 students. The Deli Serdang Regency Government intends to reorganize educational services and transfer the students to nearby schools so that existing educational facilities can be utilized more effectively.
Reorganizing Schools Based on Local Needs
During the inspection, the Deli Serdang Regent was accompanied by the Chairwoman of TP PKK Deli Serdang, Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan. They held discussions with the principal of SD Negeri 101833 and the principal of SMP Negeri 2 Sibolangit, which is located directly next to the elementary school.
In its planning, the
Deli Serdang Regency Government is considering not only infrastructure needs but also the community's demand for public services. Given the relatively small number of students at SD Negeri 101833, the government sees an opportunity to make greater use of the existing facilities for services needed by the community.
"This reorganization is being carried out based on the situation and needs on the ground. Given the relatively small number of students, the existing facilities can be used to support other services needed by the community, including Damkar, BPBD and PKBM," Asri Ludin said.
The
Deli Serdang Regency Government also plans to use part of the former SD Negeri 101833 building as a Community Learning Center, or Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (PKBM). The initiative is intended to address a community need, as
Sibolangit Subdistrict currently does not have a
PKBM.
The PKBM is expected to expand public access to non-formal education programs. Utilizing existing buildings is also part of the government's efforts to optimize regional facilities and infrastructure and ensure that they benefit a wider segment of the community.

SMP Negeri 2 Sibolangit to Be Expanded
In addition to inspecting SD Negeri 101833, the Regent also assessed the need to expand facilities at SMP Negeri 2
Sibolangit. The school currently has 208 students and is located directly beside SD Negeri 101833.
Unlike the elementary school, which has a relatively small student population, SMP Negeri 2 Sibolangit faces a greater need for additional facilities because of its enrollment. Therefore, the Deli Serdang Regency Government plans to expand the school by constructing a second floor.
The plan is part of the reorganization of educational infrastructure in
Sibolangit Subdistrict. The government aims to align the use of educational facilities with student enrollment and the specific needs of each school.
The reorganization also gives the government an opportunity to manage regional assets more efficiently. Buildings that are no longer optimally suited for educational activities can be used for other public services, while schools with larger student populations can receive support to expand their facilities.

Strengthening Fire and Disaster Response
The planned construction of
Damkar and
BPBD offices in
Sibolangit is one of the
Deli Serdang Regency Government's measures to strengthen public services, particularly in responding to fires and disasters.
By bringing emergency response and service facilities closer to the community, the government expects to shorten response times in the event of fires and disaster-related emergencies. Given Sibolangit's geographical and regional characteristics, the area also requires disaster management services capable of responding quickly when residents need assistance.
The regional government will adapt the construction plan to local conditions and actual needs. Coordination among the various agencies involved will also be an important part of the process, ensuring that the reorganization of the site is carried out according to its intended use while continuing to address community needs.
Several regional agencies directly involved in the plan also took part in the Regent's inspection. Those present included the Head of the Education Office, the Head of the BPBD, the Head of the Fire and Rescue Office, the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office, Deli Serdang Regional Parliament member from the Democratic Party faction Merry Alfrida Br Sitepu, as well as other representatives of relevant regional agencies.
The involvement of various agencies demonstrates that the
Deli Serdang Regency Government is preparing the site reorganization through a cross-sectoral approach. The government is focusing not only on infrastructure, but also on educational needs, disaster management, public safety and the efficient use of regional assets.
Through the initiative, the Deli Serdang Regency Government aims to optimize the use of public facilities. The reorganization of schools, expansion of SMP Negeri 2 Sibolangit, planned establishment of a PKBM, and construction of Damkar and BPBD offices are part of the government's efforts to align public services with the needs of residents in Sibolangit Subdistrict.
