DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The RSUD Bangun Purba Regional Hospital in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Indonesia, made history on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, by performing its first-ever Caesarean section (C-section).

The procedure was necessary due to breech presentation and reduced amniotic fluid.

"Alhamdulillah, the surgery went smoothly. We plan to name our child Sakinah," Andika said.

Besides monitoring the patient, he reviewed hospital development plans and held discussions with healthcare staff, including village midwives.
"Our main goal is to reduce stunting, lower maternal and infant mortality, and support national priority programs such as tuberculosis control. Patients should not face delays or unnecessary obstacles," the Regent said.
He also stressed that
C-sections should only be performed for medical reasons, prioritizing professionalism and ethical standards. A transparent referral system free from special interests is essential, and public hospitals must focus on patient care rather than profit.

RSUD Bangun Purba plans to enhance primary services, including physiotherapy, special needs child care, and hemodialysis facilities. These improvements aim to reduce the need for residents to seek treatment outside the region.
Asri Ludin also highlighted the importance of preventive and promotive services at local clinics to improve overall public health. The Deli Serdang government aims to upgrade RSUD Bangun Purba to a Type-C hospital by 2028–2029, ensuring basic healthcare services meet community needs.
