DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government, through the Food Security Office, is developing an annual per capita food consumption target based on the recommended dietary allowances (Angka Kecukupan Gizi/AKG). The target is intended to serve as a basis for planning food security policies that are aligned with the nutritional needs of the population.
The Head of the
Deli Serdang Food Security Office, Anggiat P Sipayung, opened an event on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Cendana Hall on the first floor of the
Deli Serdang Regent's Office to establish the annual per capita
food consumption target in accordance with
recommended dietary allowances. The event was held as part of an activity to formulate and determine the annual per capita
food consumption target.
The event was attended by relevant government agencies, technical experts, and various stakeholders involved in food security planning in Deli Serdang Regency.
Consumption Target Based on Nutritional Needs
Anggiat explained that the government needs to establish food consumption targets based on recommended dietary allowances so that nutrition program planning can be tailored to the needs of the population. In his view, consumption data based on nutritional requirements is an important component in determining the direction of food security policies in the region.
"We want the
food consumption target that is established to be genuinely based on the
recommended dietary allowances and to serve as a basis for planning
food security programs that meet the needs of the population," Anggiat said.
The establishment of the consumption target is also part of the regional government's efforts to ensure that food planning is not focused solely on food availability. The preparation of nutrition-related programs and policies must also take into account adequate nutritional intake for the population.
By using
recommended dietary allowances as one of the references, the regional government can more accurately assess
food consumption patterns and map nutritional needs. This step is expected to support the development of programs capable of meeting food requirements while also improving the quality of
food consumption.

Food Security Requires Collaboration
Anggiat emphasized that ensuring a diverse, balanced, and safe diet requires cooperation among various stakeholders. The regional government cannot advance food security efforts in isolation because the food sector is closely connected to numerous areas of development and the interests of the community.
"Food security is not only about food availability, but also about how people can access diverse, nutritious, balanced, and safe food. Therefore, cooperation among all stakeholders is necessary," he added.
He also highlighted the importance of reliable data in the planning process. Such data can help the government gain a better understanding of food consumption patterns among the population and establish targets that are more closely aligned with the actual needs of the region.
Cross-sectoral cooperation is essential to ensure that
food security programs are implemented in an integrated manner. Through coordination among relevant agencies, technical experts, and stakeholders, the government can develop more targeted measures to meet the food and nutritional needs of the population.

Basis for Regional Development Planning
The formulation and establishment of an annual per capita food consumption target provide stakeholders with an opportunity to align food security planning more closely with the nutritional needs of the people of Deli Serdang.
The
Deli Serdang Regency Government views the
food consumption target as one of the instruments supporting regional development in the field of
food security. The target can serve as a reference for developing programs addressing community
food consumption patterns and the fulfillment of nutritional needs.
The involvement of relevant government agencies and technical experts in the event also strengthens coordination in the planning process. The government hopes that future nutrition programs will be based on clear data and calculations, enabling them to deliver tangible benefits to the community.
By establishing a
food consumption target in accordance with
recommended dietary allowances, the
Deli Serdang Regency Government is seeking to develop
food security planning that considers not only the quantity of available food, but also its quality and the adequacy of nutritional intake for the population.
This step is also part of the regional government's efforts to promote a diverse, balanced, and safe diet. With the support of reliable data and cross-sectoral cooperation, food security development in Deli Serdang is expected to become more targeted and increasingly responsive to the needs of the population.
