MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - North Sumatra Governor, Bobby Nasution, has called on the younger generation to continue preserving the spirit of the 1945 national struggle. He emphasized that this spirit must serve as a foundation to overcome various national challenges on the journey toward realizing Golden Indonesia 2045.
According to Bobby Nasution, the values and ideals inherited from previous generations must continue to be passed on to the younger generation. This can be achieved through close collaboration between young people and experienced figures who have dedicated years of service to the state and society.
Bobby delivered the message during the inauguration of the Board of the North Sumatra Regional Daily Council (DHD) of the Organization for the Preservation of the Spirit and Values of the 1945 Struggle (BPJS 45) for the 2026–2031 term. The event was held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Raja Inal Siregar Hall, North Sumatra Governor's Office, Jalan Diponegoro No. 30, Medan. Bobby attended the event alongside North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya.
"Of course, young people still need reminders, guidance, and support from our parents and senior figures who have walked this path before us. If there are steps taken in regional leadership that are not appropriate, we ask them to continue reminding us," Bobby Nasution said.
DHD 45's Role in Strengthening National Values Among Youth
Bobby explained that DHD 45 plays an important role in guiding the younger generation and introducing them to the historical values of the nation's struggle. He expressed hope that the organization could become a strategic partner for the regional government in strengthening character building, national awareness, and patriotism among young people.
Bobby stressed that Indonesia's history shows unity and solidarity as the nation's greatest strength in facing various challenges. He highlighted the spirit of togetherness that emerged from the 1928 Youth Pledge movement to the 1945 Proclamation of Independence. These historical milestones demonstrate that diversity can become a powerful asset for the nation.
The North Sumatra Governor stated that the spirit of struggle remains relevant in today's era. The younger generation must possess strong moral resilience and solid character to face social challenges, including drug abuse, student violence, and violence against children.
Bobby emphasized that nation-building requires not only economic and technological advancement but also a generation with a strong understanding of national values. Therefore, organizations dedicated to preserving and developing the spirit of struggle have an important role in ensuring Indonesia's development moves in the right direction.
