CONTRIBUTING TO REGIONAL REVENUE: President Director of PD AIJ North Sumatra, Swangro Lumbanbatu, explains the company’s target to contribute to Regional Original Revenue through asset optimization, strengthening the printing business, and developing the advertising sector.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Regional-Owned Enterprise (Perusahaan Daerah/PD) Aneka Industri dan Jasa (AIJ) of North Sumatra Province is targeting a contribution to the province's Regional Original Revenue (Pendapatan Asli Daerah/PAD) in 2026. The target will be achieved through strengthening business performance, optimizing regional assets, and developing the company's key business sectors.

The President Director of PD AIJ North Sumatra, Swangro Lumbanbatu, said the company is currently implementing various improvement measures to enhance the performance of the regional enterprise. Based on internal evaluations, PD AIJ North Sumatra has not yet contributed to the North Sumatra Provincial Government's PAD for approximately the past 12 years.

"Based on the data we previously reviewed, PD AIJ has not contributed to PAD for around 12 years. Hopefully, with the support of all stakeholders, PD AIJ can generate additional revenue for the North Sumatra Provincial Government this year, which will benefit the community and support regional development," Swangro Lumbanbatu said during a press conference held by the North Sumatra Communication and Information Service (Diskominfo) at the Dekranasda Lobby, North Sumatra Governor's Office, Jalan Diponegoro Number 30, Medan, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

According to Swangro, the company's current business strategy focuses on three main sectors: asset management, printing services, and the advertising industry. These three sectors are considered to have significant potential to increase company revenue while supporting the goal of contributing to regional income.

Optimizing Regional Assets as the Main Strategy

Swangro explained that PD AIJ North Sumatra is currently managing 16 assets belonging to the North Sumatra Provincial Government that previously had not been utilized optimally from an economic perspective. These assets include an ice factory, a brick factory, the former Ria Cinema building, and other facilities.

The management of PD AIJ North Sumatra has since developed cooperation models with second and third parties to reactivate these assets. Through these partnerships, the company aims to prevent government-owned assets from remaining idle while generating additional revenue from their utilization.

"Currently, we are transferring the management of these assets to second and third parties so they can generate PAD. This process is already running well, and these assets are no longer being left unused," Swangro said.

In addition to asset management, PD AIJ North Sumatra is also strengthening its printing business by expanding cooperation with Government Organizational Units (Organisasi Perangkat Daerah/OPD) and private companies. This step is expected to increase the number of customers while improving public awareness of the company's capabilities and services.

"We are making efforts so that PD AIJ can be recognized by the wider community. Our current commitment is to contribute to the PAD of the North Sumatra Provincial Government in accordance with targets, regional regulations, and our financial capabilities," he explained.

Expanding Printing and Advertising Business Opportunities

In the printing sector, PD AIJ North Sumatra continues to improve its competitiveness by maintaining production quality. The company is utilizing various business opportunities, including smaller-scale orders, as every transaction can have a positive impact on increasing revenue.

Swangro emphasized that the company does not only focus on large-scale projects but also takes advantage of every available opportunity to gradually increase its income.

"We also accept printing orders worth one million rupiah. We believe that small amounts collected consistently can eventually grow into significant revenue over time. We should not only dream of big targets while ignoring smaller opportunities," he said.

To expand its market reach, PD AIJ North Sumatra distributes calendars, company profiles, and corporate folders to 319 government organizational units as well as private companies. This promotional program is part of the strategy to introduce the company's services to potential customers.

In the advertising sector, PD AIJ North Sumatra is also developing its videotron business, which provides faster revenue opportunities compared with conventional billboards and advertising boards.

According to Swangro, videotron advertisements can display multiple advertising contents within a short period, creating greater opportunities to increase revenue from the advertising sector.

"With billboards and conventional advertising spaces, we have to wait around one to two weeks, while a videotron can display several advertisements from different customers within 10 to 15 seconds," he said.

Strengthening Marketing to Achieve PAD Target

Swangro stated that all employees of PD AIJ North Sumatra are involved in expanding marketing efforts. Around 30 employees, including himself, are actively seeking new cooperation opportunities with various partners.

He said that a collective marketing strategy is an important step to improve the company's condition and strengthen public trust in PD AIJ North Sumatra.

"We are pushing marketing efforts forward. Everyone at PD AIJ, including myself, participates in marketing the company. Those who have networks use them so the company can become healthier. We cooperate with government agencies and private companies. For example, flags and decorations that we see today everywhere are also produced by PD AIJ," he explained.

Swangro also highlighted that product quality is one of PD AIJ North Sumatra's strengths. Although the company's printing service prices are slightly higher than private printing companies due to tax obligations, production quality remains the top priority.

"In terms of price, we are indeed slightly more expensive compared with private printing companies because we have to pay taxes. However, we can guarantee the quality of our printed products. In North Sumatra, there are only four high-quality printing machines, and one of them belongs to PD AIJ," he said.

Through these strategic measures, PD AIJ North Sumatra is optimistic that it can improve company performance and begin contributing to the North Sumatra Provincial Government's Regional Original Revenue (PAD) in 2026. (IDNC)
