DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan has held several meetings to discuss investment opportunities for the development of the former Delimas building and the Deli Serdang swimming pool. The discussions also focused on strengthening the sustainable agriculture sector through the implementation of biological technologies and organic fertilizers.
The meetings were held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the
Deli Serdang Regent's Office. During the meetings, the regional government reviewed various cooperation opportunities with potential strategic partners to optimize regional assets and encourage economic growth that directly benefits the community.
Former Delimas Building Planned for Modern Development
The first discussion focused on the development plan for the former Delimas building, which is expected to be transformed into a modern integrated shopping center. The initial concept proposes a four-story building that will combine various business sectors and public services in one integrated facility.
The planned development will include retail areas, fashion and lifestyle spaces, a culinary center, family recreation areas, health services, facilities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as entertainment zones.
The new economic facility is expected to become a public gathering space while creating a new attraction within Deli Serdang Regency.
However, the concept is still in the early planning stage and remains part of ongoing exploration of investment opportunities with potential partners who are committed to the long-term development of regional assets.

Swimming Pool Revitalization to Support Sports Development
In addition to the former Delimas building development, Asri Ludin Tambunan also discussed the planned revitalization of the Deli Serdang swimming pool. The regional government aims to transform the sports facility not only into a recreational venue but also into a supporting center for athlete development and professional competitions.
Asri Ludin emphasized the importance of improving sports infrastructure to ensure that local athlete development programs can be implemented optimally.
"Regarding the swimming pool, I want the existing facility to be improved and utilized for competitive sports events so that it can provide maximum support for the development of our athletes," he said.
Through the modernization of the facility, the Deli Serdang Government hopes the swimming pool can become an important center for aquatic sports development and the nurturing of talented athletes from the region.
Strengthening Sustainable Agriculture Through Biotechnology
On the same occasion, Asri Ludin Tambunan also received Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission X member Sofyan Tan, along with Research and Development Director of PT Terra Agro Persada Nico Wanandy and representatives from Universitas Satya Terra Bhinneka.
The meeting focused on the utilization of organic fertilizers and biological technologies as strategic steps to improve agricultural land quality.
The innovation is expected to reduce farmers' dependence on chemical fertilizers while producing healthier and higher-quality agricultural products.
According to Asri Ludin, collaboration between the government, universities, and strategic partners plays an important role in developing innovations capable of addressing challenges in the agricultural sector and improving farmers' welfare.
The Deli Serdang Government plans to initially identify agricultural areas covering 10 to 20 hectares with low productivity, damaged soil conditions, or poor harvest quality.
The pilot project will cover several key agricultural commodities, including rice, chili, and onions. The implementation process will also receive scientific support from Universitas Satya Terra Bhinneka to ensure that every stage is based on research findings and provides measurable benefits for farmers.
