Medan Secretary Inaugurates 22 Leaders to Strengthen Public Services

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Medan City Government is strengthening governance through the appointment of 22 leaders within the municipal administration. The inauguration ceremony was carried out by Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas, represented by Medan City Secretary Wiriya Alrahman, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Medan City Hall.

The appointment marks a strategic step by the Medan City Government to strengthen its administrative organizational structure while accelerating public services that are more transparent, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the community.

A total of 22 officials were inaugurated, consisting of two administrative officials and 20 supervisory officials. The newly appointed leaders were entrusted with carrying out their respective responsibilities with accountability and supporting the implementation of Medan's development programs.

Strengthening Medan's Administrative Structure

In a written address delivered by Medan City Secretary Wiriya Alrahman on behalf of Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas, it was emphasized that the appointment of leadership officials is part of organizational requirements aimed at improving the performance and effectiveness of the city administration.

Wiriya stated that the trust given to the newly appointed leaders must be answered with strong commitment, professionalism, and integrity in carrying out their duties.

"Every service must become faster, easier, and more transparent while providing certainty for the community. Develop a proactive and responsive work culture that is capable of providing solutions to every challenge faced by the people," said Wiriya Alrahman.

According to him, all leaders have an important role in creating an effective administration capable of delivering the best possible services to residents. Therefore, the newly appointed officials must develop an innovative work culture and consistently focus on measurable outcomes.

Four Key Responsibilities for New Leaders

Medan City Secretary Wiriya Alrahman explained that the appointed leaders have four main responsibilities that must be continuously implemented.

The first responsibility is to manage resources optimally so that all work programs can be carried out effectively and provide direct benefits to the community. Second, leaders must build close cooperation and strong synergy both within their respective work units and among different government agencies.

Furthermore, the officials are required to make sound and measurable decisions in accordance with applicable regulations. They must also ensure that every program is implemented according to the established targets.

The Medan City Government expects the newly appointed leaders to become driving forces in improving service quality and strengthening coordination among administrative organizational units.

Promoting Integrity and Quality Public Services

In his address, Medan City Secretary Wiriya Alrahman reminded the new leaders to maintain integrity and never misuse the authority entrusted to them.

He urged all officials to strengthen their work ethics and maintain their commitment to realizing the region's development vision.

"We ask you to avoid all forms of abuse of power and strengthen your work ethics in order to realize the region's development vision. The community places great hope in us. Let us respond to this trust with strong discipline and commitment to continuously improve the quality of our services and create an inclusive, advanced, and sustainable Medan City," he concluded.

Wiriya emphasized that the success of Medan's development is inseparable from the role of government employees who demonstrate dedication, discipline, and responsibility in delivering public services.

Through the appointment of the 22 leaders, the Medan City Government hopes that the capacity of its administrative organization will continue to improve, enabling residents to receive simpler, faster, more transparent, and higher-quality public services in the future. (IDNC)
