GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY: Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan during the groundbreaking ceremony for the “One Village, One House” home renovation program in Pematang Johar Village, Labuhan Deli District. The initiative aims to help low-income families obtain decent housing.

DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Sukini, a resident of Pematang Johar Village, Labuhan Deli District, Deli Serdang Regency, will soon realize her long-held hope of having a better and more decent home. This opportunity comes through the "One Village, One House" program initiated by Deli Serdang Regent dr. H. Asri Ludin Tambunan together with Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo.

The program emphasizes close cooperation between the Deli Serdang Regency Government and village administrations to provide solutions for low-income families in need of improved housing conditions. Through this initiative, the Pematang Johar Village Government has started the construction of a house for Sukini with financial support amounting to IDR 10 million from Village Funds (Dana Desa/DD) and IDR 25 million from the regional tax and retribution revenue-sharing allocation.

The total funding of IDR 35 million will be used to build a new and more suitable house for Sukini and her two children. This initiative represents a concrete commitment from the government to implement development programs that directly address the needs of the community.

Regent Encourages Village-Based Development With Social Responsibility

Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan praised the swift initiative of Pematang Johar Village Head Hermawan, who, despite having only recently assumed office, has already demonstrated his commitment to implementing the "One Village, One House" program.

Aci, as the Deli Serdang Regent is commonly known, stated that regional development must begin at the village level. According to him, the program is not merely about constructing houses but also about creating new hope for residents who require government assistance.

"We want development to begin in villages. The 'One Village, One House' program does not only build houses, but also creates hope and demonstrates care for people who need support. Therefore, we invite all village heads to work together so that every village can provide at least one decent home for its residents," he said during the groundbreaking ceremony for the house renovation on Friday, July 10, 2026.

Until now, Sukini and her two children have lived a simple life and relied on temporary jobs to meet their daily needs. One of her children also works as a construction worker with an unstable income.

The family's condition requires special attention because Sukini's eldest daughter, Rika Aini (25), is a child with special needs (ABK). Despite her limitations, Rika remains actively involved in learning activities at the Community Learning Activity Center (PKBM) and has a strong passion for music.

Through the implementation of this program, the living conditions of Sukini's family are expected to improve, allowing them to live in a more comfortable and healthier environment in the future.

Village Innovation Becomes Example of Community-Oriented Public Services

Asri Ludin Tambunan also hopes that the initiative carried out by the Pematang Johar Village Government can serve as an inspiration for other villages in Deli Serdang Regency to develop innovative public services based on the actual needs of residents.

He explained that the success of development should not only be measured by the number of infrastructure projects completed, but also by the direct benefits received by the community.

"When a village head demonstrates concern and has the courage to innovate, the benefits will be directly felt by the people. This is the spirit we want to continue encouraging in all villages across Deli Serdang," he said.

He assessed that the Pematang Johar Village Head had successfully implemented the spirit of needs-based development through concrete actions. In addition to carrying out the "One Village, One House" program, Hermawan also initiated the simultaneous updating of Family Cards (Kartu Keluarga/KK) for all residents of Pematang Johar.

The population document update is part of efforts to improve the quality of public services and ensure residents have easier access to organized administrative procedures.

Infrastructure Development Strengthened by Administrative Improvements

Asri Ludin Tambunan appreciated the efforts of the Pematang Johar Village Head, who has not only focused on infrastructure development but has also worked to improve administrative services for residents.

"A village head must be able to provide solutions to the problems faced by the community. I appreciate the innovations of the Pematang Johar Village Head because he is not only focused on physical development but also improving public services," he stated.

According to him, synergy between the regency government and village administrations is essential to accelerate equitable development. Through this collaboration, villages are given the opportunity to implement programs according to the needs of their residents.

The "One Village, One House" program is one of the Deli Serdang Government's initiatives to strengthen social responsibility and improve the quality of life of the community. The government hopes the program can continue to be developed and help more residents across various villages obtain decent housing in the future. (IDNC)
