PIDIE | INDATANEWS.COM - Aceh Provincial Government Secretary M. Nasir, together with members of the Aceh Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), attended the inauguration ceremony of the Rukoh Dam in Pidie Regency on Friday, July 10, 2026. The inauguration was conducted virtually by President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto from the Meninting Dam site in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
From the
Rukoh Dam area, the Aceh Provincial Government Secretary and Forkopimda members witnessed the simultaneous inauguration of five strategic national dams by President
Prabowo Subianto. The five water resource infrastructure projects include the
Rukoh Dam in
Pidie Regency and the
Keureuto Dam in North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province, as well as the Sidan Dam in Bali Province, the Jlantah Dam in Central Java Province, and the Meninting Dam in NTB Province.
The inauguration of these national dam projects is part of the government's strategy to strengthen water infrastructure in support of food security, ensure raw water availability, control flooding, and accelerate the development of renewable energy.
President Prabowo Highlights Strategic Role of Dams in
Food SecurityIn his address, President Prabowo Subianto stated that dam construction represents a long-term investment that plays a crucial role in strengthening national food security. The infrastructure also supports raw water availability for communities, reduces flood risks, and creates opportunities for the development of clean energy.
The President explained that the five dams were constructed between 2015 and 2025, requiring a total investment of Rp9.79 trillion. The infrastructure is expected to provide significant benefits for agriculture and the livelihoods of communities in surrounding areas.
According to President Prabowo, the five dams are capable of providing raw water supplies of 3.6 cubic meters per second, reducing flood risks across 932 hectares of land, and supporting clean energy development through hydropower plants (PLTA) and floating solar power plants (PLTS).
In addition, the dam infrastructure is supported by an irrigation network with a total length of 279.98 kilometers, capable of supplying water to approximately 39,540 hectares of agricultural land. The irrigation system is expected to increase agricultural productivity and strengthen the national food supply.

Rukoh and Keureuto Become Strategic Infrastructure for Aceh
In Aceh, the Rukoh Dam in Pidie Regency and the Keureuto Dam in North Aceh Regency are considered strategic infrastructure projects with significant importance for regional development.
Both dams will strengthen agricultural irrigation systems, increase crop productivity, secure raw water supplies for communities, reduce flood risks, and support renewable energy development.
After attending the inauguration ceremony, Aceh Provincial Government Secretary, M. Nasir stated that the completion of the Rukoh and Keureuto dams marked an important step in supporting the national food self-sufficiency program and strengthening the agricultural sector in Aceh.
According to Nasir, the
Aceh Government will continue to enhance cooperation with the central government and all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the benefits of both dams can be optimally utilized by the community.
"The completion of the Rukoh and Keureuto dams is an important step in supporting the national food self-sufficiency program and strengthening agricultural development in Aceh," said Nasir.
He added that the utilization of both dams would become an important factor in improving farmers' welfare, strengthening regional food security, and encouraging economic growth in surrounding areas.

The
Rukoh Dam inauguration ceremony in
Pidie Regency was attended by representatives from Aceh Forkopimda, the Sumatra I Water Resources Agency, the
Pidie Regency Government, and other key stakeholders.
All participants followed the President of the Republic of Indonesia's inauguration agenda from the Rukoh Dam location. The presence of various institutions reflected a shared commitment to supporting strategic infrastructure projects aimed at improving the welfare of the people of Aceh.
With the operation of the Rukoh and Keureuto dams, Aceh now has additional vital infrastructure to support agriculture, secure water supplies, and strengthen the long-term foundation for regional economic development.
