DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The 11th North Sumatra Regional Scout Jamboree (Jamdasu XI 2026) was officially opened on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Sibolangit Camping Ground in Deli Serdang Regency. North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya inaugurated the province's largest scouting event, which will run through Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Carrying the theme "Jamdasu Beda – Courage, Empathy, Digitalization, and Action," this year's regional jamboree aims to equip young people with resilience, adaptability to technological change, and strong values of social responsibility and leadership.

Thousands of Penggalang Scouts from regencies and cities across North Sumatra gathered at the Sibolangit campsite on the opening day, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflected the growing enthusiasm for the Scout Movement as a platform for youth character development.

Free Participation for Every Scout

Chairman of the North Sumatra Regional Scout Council (Kwartir Daerah Gerakan Pramuka Sumatera Utara), Dr. H. Dikky Anugerah Panjaitan, said Jamdasu XI 2026 introduces a new concept under the slogan "JAMDASU BEDA," making the regional jamboree completely free of charge for all participants.

In his report, Dikky explained that the policy was designed to provide equal opportunities for Scout contingents from every district and city in North Sumatra, regardless of their financial background.

"Jamdasu XI 2026, under the theme JAMDASU BEDA, differs from previous regional jamborees because participants are not required to pay any registration fees. This ensures that every Penggalang Scout from all regencies and cities across North Sumatra has an equal opportunity to participate in the regional jamboree," he said.

Following the completion of the registration process, the organizing committee recorded a total of 5,575 participants. The figure includes 3,650 Penggalang Scouts representing 32 Scout Branch Councils (Kwartir Cabang) throughout North Sumatra.

The event also involved 250 Scout leaders, 50 contingent leaders, 265 organizing committee members, and an estimated 1,500 visitors.

With this level of participation, Jamdasu XI 2026 has become the largest regional scouting event ever organized in North Sumatra, bringing together thousands of people at a single campsite.

Strengthening Character and Leadership of the Younger Generation

The organizing committee made extensive preparations to ensure the event runs safely and smoothly. Comprehensive arrangements include security, medical services, logistics, transportation, and risk management in collaboration with various government agencies and institutions.

Through the regional jamboree, the North Sumatra Scout Movement seeks not only to organize a large-scale camping event but also to strengthen the long-term character development of Indonesia's younger generation.

From an educational perspective, Jamdasu XI 2026 is designed to nurture Penggalang Scouts with strong Pancasila values, leadership capabilities, practical life skills, social responsibility, and a solid sense of unity and teamwork.

The event also encourages participants to adapt to the rapid development of science and technology, with digitalization serving as one of the major focuses of this year's regional jamboree.

Various activities scheduled throughout the five-day event are expected to enhance participants' ability to face future challenges while reinforcing the values of national unity, cooperation, and mutual solidarity.

The official opening ceremony of Jamdasu XI 2026 was attended by members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), mayors, regents, leaders of Scout Branch Councils from across North Sumatra, community leaders, and thousands of Scout members.

Through Jamdasu XI 2026, the North Sumatra Scout Movement aims to foster a generation of young people who possess strong character, digital competence, leadership skills, and the commitment to contribute sustainably to the development of both North Sumatra and Indonesia. (IDNC)
