ACEH BESAR | INDATANEWS.COM - The Aceh Besar Regency Government has once again implemented the Cheap Food Movement (Gerakan Pangan Murah/GPM), a program aimed at maintaining food supply stability and controlling prices while ensuring residents have access to basic necessities at affordable rates. The activity was held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Darul Kamal Subdistrict Head Office (Camat) compound in Aceh Besar Regency and received an enthusiastic response from the local community.
The
Gerakan Pangan Murah activity provided a total of 300 food packages containing various essential commodities needed by residents. The program is part of the regional government's efforts to maintain public purchasing power while supporting regional
inflation control through the distribution of quality food products at prices lower than market rates.
Hundreds of Affordable Food Packages Distributed to Residents
Head of the Siron Bulog Warehouse in Ingin Jaya Subdistrict, Rahmad Rahardi, said his institution had prepared 300 food packages for the implementation of the
Gerakan Pangan Murah in Darul Kamal.
The available food supplies consisted of 1,785 kilograms of premium rice, 760 kilograms of refined sugar, 760 liters of cooking oil, and 300 trays of chicken eggs.
The
Gerakan Pangan Murah began at 9:00 a.m. local time and was carried out through collaboration between the
Aceh Besar Food Agency, the Aceh Regional Office of Perum Bulog, the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Bank Indonesia, and the
Aceh Besar Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID).
This collaboration represents the government's strategy to ensure food availability while maintaining price stability for key food commodities consumed by the community.
Aceh Besar Regent H. Muharram Idris stated that the
Gerakan Pangan Murah is one of the strategic programs of the
Aceh Besar Government to ensure residents can continue meeting their daily food needs at affordable prices.
"Through this Gerakan Pangan Murah, the Aceh Besar Government is committed to ensuring affordable food prices for the community. This program is a concrete form of the government's presence in strengthening people's purchasing power while supporting inflation control efforts in the region," said the regent, who is widely known as Syech Muharram.
According to him, the regional government continues to implement various programs that directly benefit residents, particularly amid fluctuations in the prices of several basic food commodities.

Residents Welcome Affordable Food Assistance Program
Darul Kamal Subdistrict Head Husaini, S.Pd.I., expressed his appreciation to the Aceh Besar Government for organizing the Gerakan Pangan Murah in his area.
He considered the program highly beneficial because it allowed residents to purchase essential food items at more affordable prices. The initiative also helped households manage their expenses, especially in meeting daily food requirements.
"On behalf of the people of Darul Kamal Subdistrict, we thank the Aceh Besar Government for holding the Gerakan Pangan Murah in our area. This program greatly helps residents, especially in obtaining basic necessities at more affordable prices. We hope similar activities can continue to be carried out regularly," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Distribution, Information, and Food Reserves Division of the
Aceh Besar Food Agency, Idarlaila, SP. MP, explained that residents could purchase one food package for Rp215,000.
The package included five kilograms of premium rice priced at Rp63,000, two liters of cooking oil for Rp40,000, two kilograms of refined sugar for Rp32,000, one tray of chicken eggs for Rp40,000, half a kilogram of shallots for Rp20,000, and half a kilogram of red chili peppers for Rp20,000.
Price Adjustments Implemented for Several Food Commodities
Idarlaila explained that this year's Gerakan Pangan Murah implementation also included price adjustments for several food commodities. The government reduced the price of chicken eggs from Rp42,000 per tray to Rp40,000.
In addition, the price of half a kilogram of red chili peppers was lowered from Rp25,000 to Rp20,000. The adjustment was intended to help residents obtain food supplies at more affordable prices.
"The Gerakan Pangan Murah is one of the Aceh Besar Government's efforts to maintain food supply and price stability. Through this activity, residents can obtain quality food products at prices lower than those in the market. This initiative is expected to support inflation control and maintain people's purchasing power," Idarlaila explained.
To purchase a food package, residents were required to submit a copy of their Identity Card (KTP) based on their registered residence in the respective subdistrict.
The implementation of the Gerakan Pangan Murah in Darul Kamal is part of a series of programs conducted by the Aceh Besar Government throughout July 2026 in a total of ten subdistricts.
The
Aceh Besar Government hopes the program will continue to contribute to food supply stabilization, control prices of essential commodities, and provide concrete support for residents in fulfilling their daily needs.
