JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - The Jambi Regional Police (Polda Jambi) has strengthened its cooperation with media representatives, academics, students, and the community through the 2026 Public Discussion organized by the Public Relations Division (Bidhumas) of Polda Jambi. The event was held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Odua Weston Hotel Jambi.
Carrying the theme "Polri for the Community, Together with the Media Creating an Inspiring Polri Image in the Digital Era," the discussion served as a dialogue platform to strengthen the public communication strategy of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) amid the rapid advancement of information technology.
The public discussion was officially opened by the Jambi Police Chief, Police Inspector General (Irjen Pol.) Krisno H. Siregar. The event was also attended by Jambi Deputy Police Chief Police Brigadier General (Brigjen Pol.) Benny Ali, senior officials of Polda Jambi, academics, editors-in-chief from various media organizations, journalist associations, and students from several universities in Jambi.
Strengthening the Role of Polri Public Relations in Digital Transformation
During the event, Polda Jambi presented several speakers who discussed challenges in public communication and the importance of building public trust through credible information delivery.
The presentations were delivered by lecturer Dr. Mochamad Farisi, LL.M., from the Faculty of Law at the University of Jambi, as well as the Head of Cyber Unit I of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of Polda Jambi, AKP Suhartono, S.H. In addition, Aipda Arjunif, S.IP., Bhabinkamtibmas of the Bungo Police, shared his experiences regarding dedication and innovations in public service.
Through the discussion, participants gained insights into the importance of police adaptability in responding to developments in the digital environment. The topics also included strategies to prevent the spread of misinformation and hoaxes that could potentially undermine public trust.
The event took place interactively through a question-and-answer session between participants and speakers. Various perspectives and suggestions from media representatives, academics, and students became important contributions in developing the communication strategy of Polri.
In his address, Jambi Police Chief Irjen Pol. Krisno H. Siregar stated that the success of Polri should not only be measured by law enforcement achievements but also by its ability to build public trust through open, transparent, humane, and responsible communication.
"The rapid development of information technology requires Polri to become increasingly adaptive in delivering information to the public. Information must be provided quickly, accurately, and responsibly. The role of Polri's public relations is now more strategic than ever because it serves as a bridge between the police and society," said the Jambi Police Chief.

Irjen Krisno encouraged media organizations, academics, students, and social media users to work together in creating a healthy, informative, and productive digital space.
According to him, technological development presents significant challenges for public institutions, including the police. Therefore, transparency in information delivery and effective communication are key factors in maintaining a strong relationship between Polri and the community.
"The success of Polri is not only determined by successful law enforcement but also by the ability to build public trust through open, transparent, humane, and responsible communication. Cooperation between Polri, the media, academics, students, and society must continue to be strengthened to create a healthy and constructive digital space," explained Irjen Krisno.
Irjen Krisno expressed his hope that the 2026 Bidhumas Polda Jambi Public Discussion would generate various constructive ideas and solutions to improve the quality of Polri's public communication.
Furthermore, the forum represented a strategic step in strengthening partnerships between the police and various community groups amid the dynamic flow of information in the digital era.

Meanwhile, Jambi Police Chief Irjen Pol. Krisno H. Siregar, through the Head of Public Relations of Polda Jambi, Police Commissioner (Kombes Pol.) Erlan Munaji, stated that the Bidhumas Polda Jambi Public Discussion was part of the police's commitment to establishing professional, transparent, and service-oriented public communication.
According to him, the digital era requires Polri not only to deliver information quickly but also to ensure that all information provided to the public is accurate and easy to understand.
"The Jambi Police Chief emphasizes that in the digital era, the speed of information delivery must be accompanied by accuracy, openness, and responsibility. Through this public discussion, we aim to further strengthen cooperation with media, academics, students, and society to jointly combat hoaxes, improve digital literacy, and provide credible information.
