ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM – Continuous heavy rainfall in Bintang District, Aceh Tengah Regency, has triggered fresh landslides along the Bintang–Serule road, severely damaging multiple sections of this vital transport link. The route was temporarily paralyzed, bringing all traffic to a complete standstill, with neither motorcycles nor cars able to pass.
Bintang Police Station Chief AKP Feri, together with his personnel, was immediately deployed to the affected area on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) at around 10:30 a.m. WIB. The team conducted an on-site assessment and secured the hazardous zones to prevent further risks to the public.
The inspection covered areas stretching from Kampung Dedamar to Jamur Konyel. Authorities confirmed that at least four separate landslide points occurred, burying approximately 30 meters of roadway under soil and debris.

Severe Damage Blocks Road and Destroys BridgeAccording to AKP Feri, as conveyed by Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., prolonged rainfall since the night of May 12, 2026, triggered repeated slope failures along the route.

Affected areas include Kampung Dedamar, Dusun Pulo Sange, and Dusun Jamur Rampung. In addition, the bridge in Kampung Jamur Konyel was completely destroyed by strong water currents and landslide material.

The public is urged to exercise extreme caution when passing near the affected zones.
"There are still loose soil and rocks on the road, posing a serious threat to public safety," AKP Feri added.
To accelerate recovery efforts, the Bintang Police are coordinating closely with the Aceh Tengah Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), which has deployed an excavator to clear debris from the roadway.

Cleanup operations are still underway, with authorities hoping to reopen the Bintang–Serule route soon to restore normal mobility for residents. (IDNC)
