500 PENGGALANG SCOUTS PREPARE FOR SUNGGAL LT-II 2026: The Sunggal District branch of Indonesia’s Scout Movement is preparing for LT-II 2026, which will bring together 500 participants at the YP. TD. Pardede Foundation grounds in Deli Serdang from 5 to 8 November 2026.

DELISERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Around 500 young Scouts are expected to take part in the four-day LT-II 2026 competition in Sunggal, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, from 5 to 8 November 2026. Organised by the Sunggal District branch of Indonesia's Gerakan Pramuka Scout Movement, the event will take place at the YP. TD. Pardede Foundation grounds and aims to strengthen young people's character, discipline, teamwork and practical scouting skills.

Beyond identifying the strongest Scout teams, LT-II 2026 will serve as a selection process for groups that will represent Sunggal at the LT-III competition at Deli Serdang Regency level. The event also supports the branch's 2026–2029 priority programmes to improve the quality of Scout education and develop young people's leadership and social responsibility.

The competition is guided by Indonesian Law No. 12 of 2010 on the Scout Movement and the organisation's constitution and by-laws adopted at its 2023 National Conference. Its educational focus extends beyond competition results, emphasising fair play, personal development and the practical application of scouting values.

Selecting the Best Teams for LT-III

Muhammad Nurdin, S.Pd.I., M.AP., chairman of the Sunggal District branch of the Scout Movement, said LT-II 2026 was not simply about determining the winners. It would give participants an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, discipline, team unity and competitive readiness while preparing them for the next level of competition.

Nurdin said the selection process should encourage every participant to keep learning, improve their abilities and uphold fair play throughout the event. The experience, he added, should help develop Scouts who work well in teams, respect others and take responsibility for the duties entrusted to them.

He also urged participants to approach the competition with enthusiasm and use every challenge as an opportunity to gain knowledge and develop their individual potential. Alongside improving their scouting skills, they were expected to maintain good manners, courtesy and conduct that reflected the values of the Scout Movement.

The success of LT-II 2026, therefore, will not be measured solely by the final results. Discipline, solidarity, exemplary behaviour and the willingness to learn will also be important indicators of achievement, helping prepare the strongest teams for the challenges of the higher-level competition.

TAAT and CAKAP Put Character Development First

LT-II 2026 carries the theme "Membangun Regu TAAT dan CAKAP", which can be translated as "Building Obedient and Capable Scout Teams". Its motto, "Satyaku kudarmakan, Darmaku kubaktikan", expresses the principle of putting the Scout Promise into practice and dedicating service to the wider community.

The theme places character development at the heart of the event while encouraging participants to strengthen their intellectual, spiritual and emotional abilities, as well as their social skills.

TAAT encourages Scouts to fulfil their duties to Almighty God, obey rules, act honestly and observe their religious obligations conscientiously. These principles provide a foundation for developing disciplined and trustworthy individuals who are willing to take responsibility for their actions.

CAKAP represents four core values: Cerdas (intelligent), Aktif (active), Kreatif (creative) and Prestasi (achievement). Cerdas emphasises the development of intellectual, spiritual and emotional abilities. Aktif encourages members to strengthen solidarity within their teams and units while maintaining a spirit of fair competition.

Kreatif challenges participants to develop new ideas, improve their abilities and strive for success. Prestasi, meanwhile, highlights the importance of realising personal potential and mastering scouting skills as essential preparation for future challenges.

Through these principles, the Sunggal branch aims to develop Scouts who do more than acquire technical knowledge. Participants are encouraged to think independently, show initiative, work collaboratively and adapt to changing circumstances. These qualities can help young people contribute positively at school, within their families and throughout their communities.

The motto "Satyaku kudarmakan, Darmaku kubaktikan" also reminds participants that promises and commitment must be demonstrated through concrete actions. The values promoted during the competition are therefore expected to continue shaping their behaviour in everyday life, rather than being confined to the event itself.

Fair Competition as a Learning Experience

The Sunggal branch has designed LT-II 2026 as an educational event that is fair, engaging and purposeful, making use of the natural surroundings of the YP. TD. Pardede Foundation grounds. The approach reflects the Scout Movement's emphasis on practical experience, collaborative learning and character development through a range of challenges.

Each competition will provide participants with opportunities to follow rules, manage their emotions, recognise the abilities of others and solve problems together. Fairness and the willingness to accept results are essential parts of this learning process, regardless of whether a team wins or loses.

The organisers also emphasise the importance of the Scout Code of Honour, based on the principles of Trisatya and Dasadarma. These guidelines help foster responsibility, compassion and discipline, while encouraging Scouts to uphold the movement's values in their daily interactions and wider community life.

Interaction among participants is expected to strengthen friendship and solidarity among Penggalang Scouts. Healthy competition can go hand in hand with mutual respect, willingness to help others and recognition of each team's progress.

With 500 participants expected over four days, LT-II 2026 represents a significant effort to strengthen scouting activities in Sunggal. The programme combines personal development and character education with an opportunity for teams to assess their readiness before competing at Deli Serdang Regency level.

The Sunggal branch hopes the event will help nurture a generation of young people who are principled, disciplined, creative and responsible, with a strong sense of community. These qualities are expected to enable Penggalang Scouts to strengthen social cohesion, contribute to their communities and play an active role in shaping the future.

By combining competition, education and the practical application of the Scout Code of Honour, LT-II 2026 aims not only to identify high-performing teams but also to develop young people who translate the values of the Scout Movement into meaningful action. (IDNC)
