DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government is strengthening the implementation of the National Strategic Program by promoting cooperation between Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP) and Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG). Deli Serdang Regent dr. H. Asri Ludin Tambunan and Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo, SS, attended the signing of a cooperation agreement on Monday, September 7, 2026, covering the supply of food and operational needs for SPPG units through KDMP across Beringin District.
The cooperation is part of the regional government's efforts to ensure that the national program goes beyond meeting food and nutritional needs while also stimulating the
local economy down to the village level. Through collaboration between
KDMP and
SPPG, the government aims to promote the use of agricultural products, livestock products, plantation produce, and other local food resources in
Deli Serdang as the primary source for operational needs.
The agreement was signed by representatives of KDMP management boards and SPPG units in Beringin District. The cooperation involves KDMP Emplasemen Kualanamu with SPPG Beringin, KDMP Sidodadi Ramunia with SPPG Sidodadi Ramunia I, and KDMP Beringin with SPPG Beringin Karang Anyar 2.
In addition to the cooperation agreement, the chairman of
KDMP in Emplasemen Kualanamu Village and the
SPPG district coordinator for
Beringin also signed a joint commitment. The commitment is intended to further strengthen cooperation in supplying food for the
Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) program, the government's free nutritious meals initiative.
Beringin Becomes Second Cooperation Area
Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan said
Beringin District is the second area where cooperation between
KDMP and
SPPG has been officially implemented. Previously, the regional government had launched a similar initiative in Sunggal District.
According to Asri, the direct involvement of regional leaders is intended to ensure that the national program is implemented with sound administrative and organizational structures and benefits communities across Deli Serdang Regency.
"Today, there are two national strategic programs that reinforce each other, namely Koperasi Desa Merah Putih and the
Makan Bergizi Gratis program. The main objective of this national program is not merely to provide meals for schoolchildren, but, more importantly, to stimulate the economic potential of local communities," he stressed.
He said KDMP could play an important role in developing a food supply chain involving local communities. Under this model, the aim is not only to meet the needs of SPPG units but also to create a market for products produced by farmers, livestock breeders, and local entrepreneurs.
The
Deli Serdang Government also wants to ensure that the benefits of the program are distributed as widely as possible. Asri therefore called on all stakeholders to build an economic ecosystem involving various segments of society.
"Farmers must be able to earn a living from this, livestock breeders must be able to earn a living from this, fruit growers must be able to earn a living from this, as must the workers in the nutrition kitchens. Everyone must work together to keep the regional economy moving," he added.
KDMP URGED TO PRIORITIZE LOCAL FARMERS' AND LIVESTOCK BREEDERS' PRODUCTS:

Deli Serdang Products to Take Priority
Asri specifically instructed the management boards of Koperasi Desa Merah Putih to make optimal use of
Deli Serdang's agricultural potential.
KDMP, he said, should prioritize local products when meeting the needs of
SPPG units.
"I hope that no KDMP will source goods from outside Deli Serdang to sell to SPPG units. We must prioritize and rely on products from our own farmers and livestock breeders," he said.
The directive underscores the importance of establishing a supply chain based on regional resources. By prioritizing local products, transactions involving food supplies are expected to have a direct impact on the people who produce those goods.
The move also provides farmers and livestock breeders with the opportunity to gain access to a more reliable market. Local food businesses can likewise increase production as demand from SPPG units continues to grow as part of the program to improve nutritional conditions among the population.
The cooperation is not limited to the food supply sector. From the provision of raw materials to meal preparation, workers at the village level will also be involved. This gives the national program the potential to generate broader economic activity within local communities.

Emplasemen Kualanamu Village Head Koko Kurniawan welcomed the presence of the regional leadership at the event. He also expressed his appreciation for the government's support for cooperation between KDMP and SPPG in Beringin District.
Koko expressed hope that the agreed cooperation would be implemented smoothly and deliver tangible benefits. In addition to supporting children's nutritional needs, the partnership is expected to contribute to improving the welfare of village communities.
The signing ceremony was also attended by the regional coordinator of the Badan Gizi Nasional for Deli Serdang Regency, Rizky Ichsan Putra Liany, representatives of the Beringin District Muspika, members of the Lembaga Masyarakat Peduli Makan Bergizi Gratis, as well as local community leaders.
The participation of various stakeholders demonstrates that implementation of the program requires cross-sector collaboration. The regional government, village administrations, cooperatives,
SPPG operators, food businesses, and the community each have a role to play in ensuring the program's sustainable implementation.
Through cooperation between KDMP and SPPG, the Deli Serdang Government aims to ensure that the nutrition program also serves as a driving force for the village economy. The use of local products is a key factor in ensuring that the benefits of the national program ultimately return to the people of Deli Serdang.
By strengthening the food supply chain from the villages, the government hopes farmers, livestock breeders, fruit producers, food-processing workers, and nutrition kitchen employees will directly benefit from the economic impact. The cooperation is expected to become a model for strengthening the
