DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government is opening opportunities for cooperation with PT Rafflesia Ina, the operator of the Medan–Binjai Toll Road, to showcase the region's identity while expanding economic opportunities for local communities through the utilization of the toll road rest area.
Deli Serdang Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo expressed his support during a meeting with a delegation from
PT Rafflesia Ina at the second-floor meeting room of the
Deli Serdang Regent's Office on Monday, August 3, 2026.
The meeting discussed potential cooperation to utilize the rest area along the Medan–Binjai Toll Road as a platform to promote regional potential, cultural heritage, and high-quality products produced by the people of Deli Serdang.
"We appreciate your visit and that of your team. The
Deli Serdang Regency Government welcomes this cooperation proposal. We hope this meeting can become the beginning of a strong partnership that will allow the identity and distinctive characteristics of
Deli Serdang Regency to become more visible along the Medan–Binjai Toll Road," said Lom Lom Suwondo.
Rest Area as a Showcase for Regional Potential
President Director of
PT Rafflesia Ina, Tri Yuharlina, explained that her company is providing an opportunity for the
Deli Serdang Government to utilize the rest area on the Medan–Binjai Toll Road as a center for promoting the region's identity.
According to Tri Yuharlina, the area can be developed with various elements reflecting the cultural richness and local potential of Deli Serdang, including traditional houses, cultural promotion centers, and dedicated spaces for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
PT Rafflesia Ina has also prepared areas that can be used as exhibition spaces for superior regional products and various local potentials. The facility is expected to bring
Deli Serdang community products closer to toll road users traveling through the area.
In addition to cultural and MSME development, the cooperation also provides opportunities for commercial investment growth within the rest area. Several planned potentials include the construction of a fuel station and public electric vehicle charging facilities.

Government Reviews Rest Area Development Concept
Lom Lom Suwondo stated that the
Deli Serdang Government would review various concepts proposed by
PT Rafflesia Ina to ensure the rest area's utilization provides maximum benefits for the community.
The government will consider various aspects, ranging from strengthening regional cultural promotion, marketing MSME products, to providing a space that reflects the richness and advantages of Deli Serdang.
In his view, a rest area should not only serve as a stopping point for toll road users but also become a strategic medium to introduce regional potential to a wider audience.
"We will carefully review the proposed concept. Hopefully, the available space can be utilized optimally to make Deli Serdang better known while creating economic benefits for the community," he said.

Cooperation Expected to Drive Economic Growth
The
Deli Serdang Regency Government hopes that the cooperation with
PT Rafflesia Ina will become an initial step in strengthening synergy between the regional administration and the private sector.
Through the utilization of the rest area on the Medan–Binjai Toll Road, the Deli Serdang Government sees significant opportunities to strengthen regional marketing while opening wider access to larger markets for local products.
The establishment of a regional promotion center along a strategic transportation route such as a toll road is considered an added value for the community, particularly for MSME actors who need broader marketing opportunities.
Besides showcasing local culture and products, the development of the area is also expected to increase investment attractiveness and create new economic activities in Deli Serdang Regency.
Through this collaboration, the
Deli Serdang Government is optimistic that the region's potential will increasingly be recognized by people from various areas who use the Medan–Binjai Toll Road.
