JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM - PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas), part of the Pelindo Group, is strengthening its public communication strategy to enhance public understanding of the strategic role of ports in supporting national supply chains and regional economic growth.
The initiative was carried out through a seminar titled "Ports Move Logistics, Drive Regional Economy", held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Auditorium of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta. The event served as a collaboration platform involving the company, customers, media representatives, and various stakeholders to discuss the development of the port industry and its contribution to the national economy.
The seminar was also part of the award ceremony for the PortPress 2026 Journalist Competition, which carried the sub-theme "Ports in The Spotlight: Building Port Reputation Through Strategic Communication." Through this event, PTP Nonpetikemas encouraged the media's role as a strategic partner in delivering information about transformations and innovations in the port sector to the public.
Public Communication as a Pillar of Port Transformation
President Director of PTP Nonpetikemas, Indra Hidayat Sani, stated that the development of the port sector requires not only improvements in services and infrastructure but also communication strategies capable of conveying the benefits of transformation to the wider community.
According to Indra, comprehensive corporate communication is an important element in expanding public information about the function of ports as drivers of
national logistics. With stronger public understanding, the contribution of the port industry to regional and national economic development can become more visible.
"We continue to optimize excellent services and strengthen the port system to improve company performance. These efforts are then developed through comprehensive corporate communication to ensure that information about the role of ports can reach a wider audience. Based on accurate data, we recorded an increase in performance during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year," said Indra Hidayat Sani, President Director of PTP Nonpetikemas.
PTP Nonpetikemas recorded positive operational growth during the first half of 2026. Until June 2026, the company achieved a total throughput of 26,799,777 tons/cubic meters, reaching 108 percent of the RKAP target. This figure increased by 20 percent compared with the same period in 2025.
The growth was supported by increased performance across several key commodity groups. General Cargo recorded a volume of 6.64 million tons, representing annual growth of 10.89 percent. Meanwhile, liquid bulk cargo reached 6.23 million tons, growing by 24.07 percent, while dry bulk cargo amounted to 12.57 million tons, increasing by 25.74 percent.
This development reflects rising logistics and trade activities across various regions that utilize non-container terminal services as part of the national distribution chain.
"When the government continues to promote mineral downstreaming, food security, infrastructure development, and export growth, the demand for non-container terminal services will also increase. In line with this, we are present to support regional economic development," Indra said.

Non-Container Terminals Support Regional Economic Growth
PTP Nonpetikemas continues to strengthen its role in supporting various national development programs, including industrial downstream processing, food security, infrastructure development, and export expansion.
The company believes demand for non-container terminal services will continue to grow alongside the expansion of various industrial sectors. As a result, ports are no longer merely points of entry and exit for goods but are also becoming centers of economic activity in different regions.
Support for the transformation of port services has also come from service users. Heri Cahyono, Head of Operations at Meratus Line, said effective communication is an important element in building an integrated and competitive logistics ecosystem.

These improvements include more efficient vessel waiting times, more reliable schedules, and contributions to regional economic growth.
