JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM - Aceh Provincial Secretary M. Nasir attended a strategic meeting in Jakarta on Friday, June 26, 2026, to discuss the development prospects of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in Aceh with key stakeholders. The meeting forms part of the provincial government's ongoing efforts to accelerate renewable energy development through sustainable cross-sector collaboration.

Held at Warkop Kopi Tarek Premium in Cikini, the meeting brought together representatives from PLN Headquarters, PLN Aceh, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), and the Aceh Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources Office (ESDM), along with its technical team. Discussions focused on the significant opportunities for expanding solar energy projects across the province.

Aceh's Solar Energy Potential

During the meeting, participants highlighted Aceh's enormous potential for renewable energy development, particularly in the solar energy sector. Favorable geographical conditions, including abundant sunlight throughout the year and the availability of suitable land in several regions, provide strong foundations for investment in clean energy projects.

According to participants, Aceh is strategically positioned to become one of Indonesia's leading regions for solar power development. Expanding photovoltaic power plants will not only support the country's energy transition agenda but also strengthen regional energy security while reducing long-term dependence on fossil fuels.

Strengthening Cross-Sector Partnerships

Aceh Provincial Secretary M. Nasir emphasized that the provincial government remains committed to strengthening cooperation with the central government, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and private investors. He stated that strong partnerships are essential to maximizing Aceh's renewable energy potential.

He added that the provincial government views solar power development not merely as an energy initiative but as an integral component of sustainable regional development. The sector is expected to deliver multiple benefits, including improved energy security, increased investment, and the creation of new employment opportunities for local communities.

"Aceh's solar energy potential must be fully optimized through close collaboration among all stakeholders. The Aceh Government welcomes every initiative that accelerates clean energy development while generating economic benefits for the people," Nasir said.

Encouraging Investment and Modern Energy Technologies

The meeting also explored potential technical cooperation models for future solar power projects. Participants stressed the importance of translating Aceh's vast solar energy potential into concrete and measurable projects that provide direct benefits to local communities.

Representatives from PLN and other stakeholders presented their assessments regarding infrastructure requirements, power grid readiness, and appropriate development models to ensure the efficient implementation of photovoltaic projects. Officials from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs also emphasized the crucial role of digital transformation in supporting the renewable energy ecosystem.

The meeting forms part of broader efforts to support Indonesia's national energy transition agenda. Solar power development in Aceh is expected to serve as a regional model for clean energy implementation while reinforcing Indonesia's commitment to reducing carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions.

All stakeholders expressed optimism that the meeting would be followed by concrete and measurable actions in the near future. Strengthened collaboration between the provincial government, central government, state-owned enterprises, and investors is expected to accelerate the realization of solar power projects in Aceh, contributing significantly to sustainable and environmentally friendly economic growth.
