LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Synergy between the local government and the banking sector has once again been reinforced as a strategic step to accelerate sustainable development in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. The Regent of Labuhanbatu Selatan, Fery Sahputra Simatupang, received the Director of PT Bank Sumut, Heru Mardiansyah, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, for a courtesy visit at the Regent's office.

The meeting, held in a warm and familiar atmosphere, became an important moment to strengthen cooperation between the Government of Labuhanbatu Selatan and Bank Sumut. Both sides agreed to expand collaboration across various strategic areas, ranging from regional development and improved public services to environmental protection and the strengthening of the grassroots economy through small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The Regent was accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Labuhanbatu Selatan, M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution, and the Head of the Financial and Asset Management Agency (BKAD), Imron Rohsadi. Their presence underscored the local government's strong commitment to building a productive partnership with the regional banking sector.

Strengthening Regional Development and Strategic Partnerships

Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang expressed appreciation for Bank Sumut's tangible contributions through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, which has been implemented in Labuhanbatu Selatan. He noted that these initiatives have had a direct positive impact on the community and have supported the regional government's priority programs.

The assistance provided includes two waste collection vehicles and 23 waste bins equipped with a 3R system (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). These facilities are currently being utilized to strengthen community cleanliness programs, which have recently been intensified.

Fery Sahputra emphasized that this support not only improves residential sanitation but also serves as an educational tool for the community. It encourages greater awareness of orderly, healthy, and environmentally friendly waste management practices.

"This support is very helpful in advancing the regional government's efforts to create a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment. At the same time, it increases public awareness of proper waste segregation," he said.

According to the Regent, such a program has strong potential to enhance the competitiveness of local SMEs. It could also broaden market access and sustainably improve income opportunities for the community.

The Government of Labuhanbatu Selatan expressed hope that the existing collaboration with Bank Sumut would continue to grow and deliver greater benefits for society and regional economic development.

Commitment of Bank Sumut to Sustainable Development

In response, the Director of PT Bank Sumut, Heru Mardiansyah, reaffirmed the company's commitment to actively supporting sustainable development in Labuhanbatu Selatan. This commitment is carried out through CSR programs as well as the strengthening of the SME sector as part of the company's social responsibility.

In addition to supporting environmental programs, Bank Sumut continues to prioritize the empowerment of SMEs as a key pillar of the people's economy, creating jobs and strengthening regional economic resilience.

The courtesy visit was not merely a formal agenda but reflected a shared commitment between the regional government and Bank Sumut to implement programs that have a direct impact on the community.

With increasingly strong cooperation between both parties, social, economic, and environmental programs are expected to be implemented more effectively and on target. This marks an important step toward a modern, equitable, prosperous, and sustainable Labuhanbatu Selatan. (IDNC)
