BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Class IIA Correctional Facility (Lapas) Batam commemorated the 62nd Anniversary of the Indonesian Correctional Service on April 28, 2026, joining a nationwide observance led by the Directorate General of Immigration and Correctional Services under Indonesia's Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs.
The celebration was held through a virtual ceremony connecting correctional institutions across the country.

In his address, Minister of Immigration and Correctional Affairs Agus Andrianto emphasized that correctional work must deliver tangible benefits for inmates and society.
"Correctional service is not merely ceremonial. It is real work that creates opportunities so that former inmates can positively contribute to society," he stated.
The 62nd anniversary carried the theme "Correctional Service with Concrete Action, Excellent Service," underscoring the commitment to strengthening humane, professional, and impactful correctional management.

Tasyakuran Ceremony and Institutional Solidarity
Following the virtual ceremony, Lapas Batam held a tasyakuran (gratitude gathering) to express appreciation for collective achievements. The event also reinforced solidarity among staff and renewed commitment to improving service quality and institutional performance.
Economic Empowerment for Prisoners' Families
As part of the anniversary program, Lapas Batam introduced a concrete empowerment initiative by distributing a vending cart to inmates' families. The program aims to support economic independence and strengthen the role of families in the rehabilitation process.
In addition, awards were presented to winners of various competitions organized to mark the 62nd Correctional Service Anniversary.
Through these initiatives, Lapas Batam reaffirms its commitment to effective rehabilitation programs, enhanced service standards, and professional public service delivery.
