BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - The new leadership of Persaudaraan Pidie Raya (PIRA) for the 2026–2029 term was officially sworn in on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Anjung Mon Mata in the Aceh Governor's Palace complex in Banda Aceh. The inauguration marked an important moment for the people of Pidie Raya to strengthen family ties while also mobilizing support for the region's recovery, particularly Pidie Jaya following the hydrometeorological disaster.

Sibral Malasyi, who personally attended the inauguration, urged the new
PIRA leadership not to limit the organization to serving merely as a platform for social interaction among people from
Pidie Raya. He said the organization should take on a more strategic role by bringing together the potential, ideas and networks of people from
Pidie Raya living in the diaspora to support regional development.
According to Sibral, PIRA holds an important position because people from Pidie Raya living in various regions possess experience, expertise and networks that can be directed toward the interests of regional development. Therefore, the 2026–2029 leadership must develop programs that respond to the needs of the people and deliver tangible benefits to the region.
PIRA to Serve as a Common Platform
Sibral urged PIRA to provide space for all segments of the Pidie Raya community. He emphasized the importance of the organization becoming a common platform that brings people together regardless of their backgrounds or the interests of individual groups.
In the spirit of togetherness,
PIRA can bring together the diverse potential of the people of
Pidie Raya, both from their home region and from the diaspora. Such collaboration is expected to generate broader ideas and programs that can contribute to strengthening regional development.
The regent also reminded the leadership to protect the organization from personal and group interests. In his view, unity is the most important foundation for PIRA to consistently fulfill its role and earn the trust of the people.
In addition to strengthening family ties, Sibral called on
PIRA to develop programs in various sectors that directly contribute to improving the welfare of the people. Economic empowerment, education, improving the quality of human resources, and creating opportunities for the younger generation are among the areas that should receive particular attention.
Economy, Education and Young Generation in Focus
Strengthening these sectors, Sibral said, requires the involvement of many stakeholders.
PIRA can utilize its membership network to open access to knowledge, business opportunities, education and various forms of collaboration that can benefit the people of
Pidie Raya.
The role of the younger generation is also an important part of the organization's future development. PIRA should create spaces where young people can develop their skills, creativity and networks, giving them greater opportunities to contribute to the development of their home region.
At the same time, Sibral urged
PIRA to expand its development network from the regional to the national level. Collaboration among the community, district governments, the provincial government and various national-level networks could help accelerate the implementation of programs with tangible impacts on the people.
This network could also become an important force in advancing the development interests of Pidie Raya. Through effective communication and coordination, PIRA can help connect the region's needs with resources and opportunities available outside the region.
Diaspora Solidarity for
Pidie Jaya's Recovery
Sibral specifically called on PIRA to participate in the reconstruction of Pidie Jaya following the hydrometeorological disaster. He said the solidarity of people from Pidie Raya living in the diaspora could provide additional strength to accelerate damage recovery and the restoration of the affected region.
Such support should not be limited to assistance during the immediate emergency. It could also develop into long-term support for the recovery of communities and the reconstruction of various affected sectors.
"The greatest strength of a region lies not only in its natural resources, but also in the concern and solidarity of its people. Pidie Raya represents not only a past of which we are proud, but also a future for which we must fight together," Sibral said.
He expressed hope that the
PIRA leadership for the 2026–2029 term would work together in unity and translate the spirit of brotherhood into concrete action. The organization's programs, he said, must reach the needs of the people so that
PIRA's presence in its home region can be genuinely felt.
The inauguration of the new PIRA leadership thus also marks the beginning of a period in which the organization seeks to strengthen its consolidation and expand the contribution of the people of Pidie Raya. With the support of various community groups and diaspora networks, PIRA is expected to play a greater role in regional development while also helping accelerate the recovery of Pidie Jaya following the disaster.
