LABUHANBATU | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Regent Dr. H. Asri Ludin Tambunan, accompanied by the Chairwoman of the Deli Serdang Regency TP PKK, Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan, visited Khairullah Kohar, known as Khairul, an eighth-grade student at SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Pakam who is currently receiving treatment at RSUD Haji Amri Tambunan. The visit took place on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
The visit reflected the regional government's concern for
Khairul's health, which had previously been in a worrying condition. When he arrived at the hospital,
Khairul was weak and pale and was experiencing mild shortness of breath. An initial examination found that his blood hemoglobin (Hb) level was only 3.5 g/dL.
The Director of RSUD Haji Amri Tambunan, Erlinda, said the medical team immediately provided treatment, including a blood transfusion. Following the transfusion, the student's condition began to show positive improvement.
"His Hb level has also increased. Blood tests and an abdominal ultrasound have already been carried out. Further examinations are still underway to obtain a more comprehensive assessment of
Khairul's health condition," Erlinda explained.
Khairul's Condition Begins to Improve
Erlinda explained that the medical team continues to conduct various examinations to obtain a more complete picture of
Khairul's health. These examinations are important so doctors can determine appropriate treatment based on the patient's condition.
Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan expressed hope that the entire series of examinations would provide more detailed information about Khairul's health. Based on the comprehensive results, medical professionals are expected to determine the appropriate treatment and take the necessary measures promptly.
"Hopefully, once all the examinations are completed, we will have a better understanding of his condition and what needs to be done, including the most appropriate treatment," the regent said while speaking with
Khairul's parents.
In addition to ensuring that Khairul received medical care, the regent also paid attention to the family's circumstances. He assured the family that they would not need to worry about treatment costs while Khairul was undergoing medical care.
The Deli Serdang Regency Government has registered
Khairul as a participant in the BPJS Kesehatan government health insurance program under the Contribution Assistance Recipient (PBI) scheme. Through this membership, the regional government covers
Khairul's BPJS Kesehatan contributions, allowing the family to focus more on accompanying him throughout his treatment.
The measure is also part of the regional government's efforts to ensure access to healthcare for people in need, particularly families facing financial difficulties in covering further examinations and treatment.

Concern Began at School
The regent's particular concern for
Khairul's health began when he visited an extracurricular activity at
SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Pakam. On that occasion, the regent noticed that
Khairul appeared physically much smaller than other students his age.
The regent then asked the teachers about Khairul's condition. The school subsequently informed him that the student was indeed experiencing health problems.
The encounter prompted the regent to follow up more closely on
Khairul's condition. After learning that the student required further examinations and treatment, the regional government ensured that
Khairul could receive medical care at
RSUD Haji Amri Tambunan.
"He is a smart and enthusiastic boy. It is this enthusiasm that enables him to remain active," the regent added.
Khairul is the second of four children. He lives with his family on Jalan Galang in Kelurahan Cemara. Despite his health problems,
Khairul continues to show great determination and takes part in school activities.
This commitment was among the factors that drew the regent's attention. His health problems did not completely prevent Khairul from participating in daily school activities. However, his physical condition eventually prompted the school to inform the regent about his situation.
CHEST DISCOMFORT:

Family Hopes for Khairul's Swift Recovery
Khairul's mother said her son had previously been examined at a private hospital. During the examination, the doctor reportedly found that his spleen was enlarged.
However, the family was initially unable to continue with further examinations because of financial difficulties. As a result, they had not yet obtained a complete picture of the health problems affecting Khairul.
Now that
Khairul is being treated at
RSUD Haji Amri Tambunan, the family hopes his health will continue to improve. The initially positive response following the blood transfusion, particularly the increase in his Hb level, has given the family renewed hope.
Khairul's mother also described changes she had noticed in her son following treatment. The chest discomfort and dizziness he had previously experienced had subsided.
"Thank you, Mr. Regent.
Khairul says his chest already feels better and the dizziness has also decreased. Sometimes he would suddenly fall. Hopefully, he will recover after receiving treatment here,"
Khairul's mother said.
The family now hopes that further examinations by the medical team will identify the underlying cause of Khairul's health problems. With support from the regional government and medical care at RSUD Haji Amri Tambunan, the family hopes Khairul will soon receive appropriate treatment and be able to return to his school activities.
The Deli Serdang Regency Government, through its regional healthcare facilities, will continue to monitor
Khairul's treatment to ensure he receives the necessary examinations and medical care. The results of the further examinations will serve as a basis for medical professionals in determining the next steps in his treatment.
The visit by the regent and the Chairwoman of TP PKK Deli Serdang also provided important moral support for Khairul and his family. While treatment is still ongoing, the attention is expected to help strengthen Khairul's confidence throughout his recovery process.
As his Hb level has improved following the transfusion and further examinations are still underway, the family is now awaiting a comprehensive medical assessment. They hope the examinations will quickly clarify
Khairul's health condition and pave the way for the best possible treatment, enabling the
SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Pakam student to make a full recovery.
